  1. I agree with everything that he said. The concert was masterful. And he didn't leave out much in the review. I only wish I could have had the pleasure of actually meeting him like he did. I would have been the same exact way. Overall, it was one of the best experiences of my life, something I'll never forget.

  2. a morbid thought indeed. but here's some positive news....

    a) both of Williams' parents are still alive and supposedly doing well, which means that there cannot be too many health problems in his genes

    B) my dad is a statistician, and he informed me that according to the numbers, composers live much longer than people in other professions. on avg. they apparently live to be pretty old. i don't know enough about it, but supposedly it is because conducting is such a great cardio-vascular excercise and they all do it so much. it makes sense i think since when you're that old its hard to do any other cardio-vascualr excecise with the exception of walking, but that doesn't really count.

just some hopefuly information for those of you who believe that Williams won't be around much longer, because i sure think he will. whether or he'll actually be conducting concerts is a different story.

  3. yeah, i'm also going by Amtrak on monday morning and am a bit nervous too. i had someone i know up in boston get the tickets for me so i don't know exactly where i'm sitting yet, but he said they were good seats. i went to a concert of his when he was in Philly back in 2000, and i feel the same way. it was amazing! he talked a lot in between all the different pieces he played and was very funny and entertaining. the best moment though had to be when he first came out to the podium and with one wave of the arms the Philadelphia Orchestra burst into the Star Wars main title. it was one of the most spectacular things. just writing all of this is getting me more excited for tuesday night.

  4. well, i just watched Harry Potter again not more than an hour ago. i saw it twice in the theaters and loved the movie and the score. i remember there being many moments in the movie where i'd say, "this is great music" about music that wasn't on the cd. there is SOOOO much music that is unreleased and truly spectacular if i may add. i've always considered the original soundtrack to be good, but not among the best of Williams' work, but after hearing it in its entirity while watching the movie, the score has definitely moved up on my list.... a lot. it's really quite magical and utterly enchanting. in my opinion, the FULL Harry Potter score is on par with Hook.

  5. I think the reason why I do like the Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition to the point of overlooking the editing flaws is because of the underscore. One thing that is sorely overlooked in the Star Wars scores is the underscore. Sure, everybody loves the loud action music and the sweeping themes, but I think a lot of credit should be given to the underscore, which Williams did so well with Phantom Menace in my opinion. The art of underscore is very important, and Williams, especially with the Star Wars scores, really knows how to capture the mood and atmosphere of a particular scene. Not surprisingly, he did so with Attack of the Clones. So I guess that is the reason why I always find myself sticking up for the Ultimate Edition, and as mentioned prior, I really can't wait for the for Attack of the Clones

  6. I'll definitely buy it. i don't have too much of a problem with the Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition. What everybody says about it is surely true, but there a lot of great cues on it that aren't on the original soundtrack. It has a good forty minutes of great music not founf on the OST. The Attack of the Clones Ultimate Edition may not have as much music to be released as Phantom Menace, since a good bit of it IS Phantom Menace, but it will have a good share of solid music. I've seen the film four times and just love it and have noticed a lot of really good music not on the current CD, which includes lots of good underscore and some brief fanfares here and there. The more I see the movie the more I want the inevitable expanded release of the score. The editing might be bad but at least it'll have a good bit of really great music.

I just hope it is put together like the double disc versions of the original trilogy. I'd much rather have 11 minute tracks then 40 second tracks, but that's just me.

  7. If James Newton Howard is given enough oppurtunities, he can shine. I think he is the best of the bunch named in this poll, though he hasn't, at least not in my opinion, had the cahnce to really show what he's got. he's definitely an amzing composer though and would love to see him score a huge epic. his sound is a truly unique one, and completely original.

  8. I love the Arena sequence. It upsets me that much of it was cut from the film though. THe first two minutes and the last two minutes of the track are used, as many of you know. And it's a real shame because the middle 4 and a 1/2 minutes or so showcases some great action music and multiple renditions of that theme.
