Instruments from Arcade Fire

Hi again, sorry to bother. This is not John Williams related, so I hope you don't mind but I just want to identify two instruments from two Arcade Fire songs.

At about 5:15 of 'In The Backseat' (

) there's these small squealy mechanical sounds that sounds like a rusty wheel turning. I'm sure it's an instrument, because through the whole song there is a similiar sounding thing going on.

Then in 'Half Light' ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmGasUfIOdk ) right near the beginning, though it carries on through the whole song, is that a hurdy gurdy?
