  1. It reminds me so much of Bilbo's Song from ROTK, I could actually imagine a development into what we already know from LOTR in TABA. The theme in Beyond the Forest just sounds like a more heroic rendition to me, less introverted and retrospective. Just speculation to this point but I like the idea.
  2. I think Shore really succeeded on the material for Smaug. These rythmic, almost ticking percussion parts combined with brutal low brass really define Smaug's character - intelligent, sneaky and purely evil. Amazon.de says December 6th in Germany. Let's see ...December 6th sounds good, I know what I'll be doing next weekend
  3. Maybe Pope talks about it someday, he can be very outspoken ... hope dies last.
  4. Err, well... you'll find there's quite a bit of discussion about that around these parts. Hm, I know. I hope someday someone will enlighten us.
  5. I'm curious about the degree of Pope's involvement. If he worked on the bigger part of the orchestration, he really did a great job - it sounds very coherent (even the wild flutes fit perfectly ). Or was he just engaged as Shore's delegate during the recording sessions to struggle with PJ's mad decisions?
  6. Here's my Youtube playlist for anyone who missed it. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgvHD51gG4oKcp1KdX9h5to9xAF2xSxHW
  7. I can't help myself but the so called "Tauriel theme" feels more like a theme for Bilbo's journey to me, especially the final statement in "Beyond the Forest".
  8. Agree, it somehow felt like they were trying to imitate that awful RCP sound, way too much bass.
  9. I like the way Shore tortures the Gandalf theme in "A Spell of Concealment". Btw what do you guys think about the mix ... I think it's way better than AUJ, I didn't really appreciate the dry sound of Abbey Road.
