  1. OK that's it. Shawn Murphy should retire. There is so much noise on this album. And it's COMING and GOING. Suddenly you can hear a huge noiselevel fade up... Then at some points it either vanishes at once, or fades down again.. THen up again etc. This sounds like some 60's tapes that have been dug up, not a recording from 2002. Examples: Track #3 - huge noiselevel throughout, but at 1:05 it gains to a very loud level. Then fades out at 1:16 - seems to go with the electronic deep bass sounds. 1:50-2:05 - weird noise - sounds really really analogue tape like. Fades out after that, a fade of around 5 secs. Track #4 - Noise comes in all of the sudden at 1:04. Fades out at 3:02. I have yet to finish listening to this score which has already impressed me with its complexity and suspense, but the engineering on this is totally unacceptable. Mr. Williams, please assign SIMON RHODES next time around! Apparently Murphy can't hear anything from 2khz and up.
  2. Oh btw , yes - Mecha World from A.I. has wonderful use of electronics. Probably the best Williams have done. It doesn't make me cringe in any way, and sounds professional. Well done.
  3. We've been in this territory before but ok... It is amateurish, because compared to electronic music done by people who always work with electronic music, it is lame. Any 15-year old with a copy of EJay could do as well as A.I. or Presumed Innocent. Jurassic Park would prolly demand a 20-year old though. As for Home Alone.. well... it works fine in the scene, but the drums are really on the verge of being corny and synthy.
  4. I wonder how anyone can enjoy extremely amateurish electronic music - just because it has something to do with John Williams it seems...
  5. Maybe this is some 'news' I missed. But searching for 'The Planets Pluto' at Amazon reveals a new recording of The Planets, and a guy called MATTHEWS wrote PLUTO??? I thought Williams got that gig a while back, and wondered what happened to the project - now it seems Williams was ditched??
  6. Well, if you're not serious about it, you might find $48 a high pricetag. But if you're really interested in this, it is not so bad. Afterall you have to think about the price involved in making this complete score sheet, and the fact that they dont sell 100.000 of these....
  7. Wasnt there supposed to be a DVD available with VIDEO of the performance? The audio is fine, but I am much more interested in seeing the orchestra and JW....
  8. Actually, ever since I saw the first trailer, I was hoping Williams would do a Goldsmith on this one. Something rhythmic, organic, minimalistic. I can't wait to hear it! So, as an admirer of John Williams' work, you hope he creates something that sounds like other composers - makes sense to me....
  9. Like what? A whole atonal score? Please enlighten me.
  10. No. But when Spielberg says 'little tonality' - that disturbs me.
