This poster is far more better than they used before, but obviously the guys at Warner Bros didn't think so. This is probably less commercial attractive. I can't see how but that doesn't seem to be the issue
That's why I liked the AOTC-cover so much! Those pictures all the time. I'm sure someone had al lot of work in making pictures and composing them together, but drawn pictures like these give something special on covers, posters espacially for such kind of films
Exactly my point of view!

Wow that is awesome! Can anyone make a square cover?
Just look in IrishCal's and my posts, you can find some there
-
It's already better than my c.d. cover, but you just need a way to blend the right margin of the poster with the black area...
K.M.
I think I did that... when you look at the poster, at the right side it is dark grey, fading to black from top to bottom... I copied this part and pasted a horizontally stretched version next to it, so it matches up withthe size of the cover.

I just tried to make a CD cover from that, though I am not very skilled with image manipulation and layout and such, so the fonts don't look as good as I'd wish... however, feel free to use this if you like it

Version 1 (with antialiased Font) :
Version 2 (without antialiased Font) :
Don't know which one looks better printed out, just try.

Interesting picture I found on another message board:
(And we see again: John Williams seems to be the only movie composer known to the general public )

Rolling over in his grave? I didn't know JW was dead. Bassoon? Sounds like a bunch of electronic sounds.
Never watched the Simpsons, hm?

I've just listened to it, WOAH, not bad, man, not bad! Must have been quite some work to transcribe this, very good!

"Hunderttausend heulende Höllenhunde!"
I hope Spielberg does it right

When I remember correctly, "Little Odessa" with Tim Roth, Maximilian Schell and Edward Furlong has very few music... only in some select scenes, and there it's used to great effect.

Sorry, now I have understood
That would be great to get MIDI files sequenced from these sheets.
I am currently finishing a 8:55 min MIDI file from Jurassic Park : Journey to the Island, but I have no sheet music, so it is very hard.
I'd like to hear it then, when it's finished
A friend of mine has arranged Journey to the Island for Piano, but I only have it on paper here... and it's nearly inpossible to all the notes he packed the arrangement full of *g*
I've never heard to Adventures of Jar-Jar. How does it sound? Does it revolve around Jar-Jar's theme? From what I saw in the score, all music included in the piece is on the CD (OST), just taken from different tracks. I think I will find those parts and edit the track together on the computer, so I can listen and read the whole piece
From the first quick view, it seems to incorporate parts of #4 "Jar Jar's Introduction", and #6 "Trip to the Naboo Palace".
Ah, and some parts of the second half of #11 "Kids at play"

...and I can't help opening a new topic to express how incredibly awesome it is!!! Reading this incredible music along with the recording... especially DotF... and I was positively surprised that the "Adventures of Jar Jar" piece begins with that great first minute (or so) of OST #6, "Trip to Naboo". It took a long time until I finally ordered this score, as I was unsure if it would be worth the huge amount of money, but after my first read-through, all doubts have vanished
I don't know if there's much to discuss here, and maybe this topic doesn't interest anyone and sinks to the bottom of this board in no time, but whatever... I'm just happy as hell right now with this score
:)
-Chris, happy as hell
-
Hm, let's think...
-"Luke&Leia" from RotJ
-Something from The American President
-"Rose" from Titanic
-"Monica's Theme" from A.I.
-Several tracks from Forrest Gump
-The love theme from First Knight
-The love theme from Frankenstein (Doyle)
-"Mitch & Abby" from The Firm
...

Yes? ...he doesn what?
Now I read that article, and it seems to me that this guy just puts his opinion on the table, supporting it with vague arguments (like, Horner, Shore and Zimmer being Williams clones... ). Of course his points are not completely false, but he interprets them to much too high an extent.
And, halfway through his article he doesn't say any word about Williams anymore, instead he begins telling how inventive and impressive the Golden Age film music was. Sure, there's truth to that, but it stands in no real relation to the point he was trying to make from the beginning of the article.

When listening to the CD, what is your favorite moment? Can be half a minute, can be just one second. Just try to pick one
As much as I love several complete tracks in this CD, especially "Fawkes the Phoenix" and "Dobby the House Elf", this one moment that always sends shivers down my spine is just a two second segment in "Fawkes is reborn". I first noticed this bit in the movie and thought "This is just brilliant", but couldn't find it on the CD, but then I found out it was there, only I searched in the wrong track.
This is the three bars or so of soft, sad woodwind chords playing the beginning of the secondary motive from the "Fawkes" concert track (occuring in the film when Fawkes heals Harry's mortal wound with his tears). Just these two seconds of music, with the picture before my inner eye of this beautiful bird crying his soft tears, touch me more than anything else on this soundtrack, and on many other soundtracks.
Now I've written much more than I planned to, but that's the power of John Williams's music... just wanted to express that.
-Chris, listening to CoS at least twice a day

First of all, everything Williams at HL is authentic Williams. The chamber pieces or pieces for smaller ensembles are listed as such, and of the orchestral pieces almost all are labeled "Deluxe Score", ranging from ~35$ to ~70$ (The Star Wars scores). Those are the real, full scores as heard in the original recordings. If by "really expensive scores" you mean the ones at several hundred dollars, those are the complete sets with score and parts.
-
I just saw this thread... how did it go? I'm sure you enjoyed playing this piece, I'm playing it with a pianist friend every time we come together to make music, and we enjoy it much, it's just a devilishly good piece

-The original full score with every played note in it.
-Yes.
-Depends on the pieces, HPSS had 85
-Yes, of course
-Chris, still considerung if he should get this one too.

Very interesting, that video is

Oh, I can't wait, I caaan't waiiiiiit... my precioussssss....
Those soundclips sadly don't show as much as they could, were they intelligently selected... in several track descriptions I read about parts of tracks that I was so eager to get a peek at, only to discover that the chosen sound clip consisted of a section of strings work (nothing wrong with the string work, though... but I want to hear the climax of track 1!!!).
However, 6 tracks ("The Riders of Rohan", "Evenstar", "The White Rider", "The Hornburg", "Forth Eorlingas!", "Isengard Unleashed") already found their way to the net in complete form (from ClassicFM's broadcast), and those are gorgeous!
Have I mentioned that I can't wait for this CD?
My precioussss.....

Me too. But only a bit. But not problem there, as I adore Across the Stars
(Voted for Fawkes, too, of course )
-Chris, having seen CoS three times now.

WALLA - your have your very own complete score. It'll do until an official release is available.
AAAAAAAAaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's "VOILA"!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is not "viola" (that's a musical instrument) and it is certainly not "walla" (I don't know what the f**k that is).
Neil
That one has a good chance to be taken into the "official JWFAN dictionary"

Well now that we know there may be a series of Williams concerts with the LSO in 2005 maybe the European members could get together.
Who would goto that???
ME!
Definitely.
I don't know If I'd have money then, and if I could spare the time, but I'd definitely be going That would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
BTW, were did you get the info that Williams may come to Europe for concert?

I just came back from my second viewing, this time in English Wednesday Night I watched the double feature with PS, German dub.... boy, those still childish voices are annoying... and nothing beats Rickman's voice! But otherwise, I greatly enjoyed CoS, much interesting camera work (Main Titles, before the credits, ...), great acting, funny jokes, monumental sets, great music And this hilarious bit after the End Credits
I'll perhaps see it again soon, but have to let some time pass before that, so that the experience doesn't wear off... and I have much time to spend with the FotR SEE yet

How I spent November 11:
-Bought HPCOS (with nice Dumbledore cover) during university break, not able to wait any longer
-listened to it on the whole train ride home (takes an hour)
-listened to it at home, while I planned to cancel my amazon order for it, only to discover it had already been shipped (until today they never shipped things I preordered before the release date, and since I combined the shipment with the FotR box, I thought... )
-listened to it several times the whole day, trying all day to reach a friend who is also HP fan... finally reached him in the evening, but of course he'd already bought the CD too
How I spent November 12:
-Hardly able to wait for noon when I could go back home
-Overly happy when I discovered the packet from amazon in the mail
-Watched the extended FotR the first time today (many will follow this week), and already peeked into some of the extras ("Scale", "Animatic/Storyboard/Movie" Comparison, "Music of Middle Earth" Feature)
-I'll have to return my second HPCOS CD... oh well... next time I'll be wiser and not pre-order things that are not limited...
-Now I'll go to bed and listen to HPCOS whle falling asleep (but not because of the music )
Good night everyone and enjoy the things you bought today, I guess there are very few here who didn't get at least ONE of those things (Morn??)
-Chris, very tired after spending most of last night watching E.T.
What's the single most amazing moment by Johnny?

I'd pick JP's "Journey to the Island", and the first half of ANH's "The Death Star", from the point the deep brass starts the piece until after the great trumpet/trombone rebel fanfare burst out... grandiose.
