I haven't had any crazy theories for a while, so here we go.

...I'm listening to the Scavenger, and the rhythmic piano section of Rey's theme (starts at 1:03) sounds eerily similar to the Emperor's Theme. Sort of like Anakin's Theme was a bright and cheery version of Darth Vader's theme?

Is the Skywalker gone bad, and the Palpatine gone good this time? Is this why Luke gives Rey the death stare at the end?! :o

Actually if you listen to the last track (#23 The Jedi Steps and Finale between 1:03 and 1:11) you hear part of the Imperial March.

I think you have a point, but it could also be a reflection on her heredity.

  3. NPR did a nice little story on the music to Mission Impossible with interviews from Schifrin, Giacchino, Kraemer, and McQuarrie. Worth a listen. Williams gets mentioned twice and seems to imply he was going to score the first film in the series, which is something I had never heard before. It's 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

Did Kraemer borrow from Rosenthal's Clash of the Titans ?

  4. Yawn. Another Eon bore feast. I am glad Cubby and Ian are not around to see how the kids have destroyed the series with its pretentiousness. The Craggy Bond has no joy that existed in the novels. Another dark, Christopher Nolanesque , with a dash of psychobabble in yet another unbearable Mendes movie.

  5. Well, Frank wrote how many Dune books, six? Ignore his son's for now. Lynch's movie didn't get sequels, and the TV miniseries only filmed the first three books. I doubt any studio has the funds and cojones to commit the entire series to film, but the logical step if they decide to would be to reboot the series to establish a firm foundation. I don't think Dune ever became as mainstream as other beloved book series to warrant such a lavish commitment like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Narnia, or Game of Thrones. Those are all fantasy which proves my point. Do series like Star Trek, Star Wars (sci-fi lite), BSG, Stargate, etc. create such a strong presence in filmed sci-fi that book series are kept down in lieu of fantasy? That's a shame because sex is far more crucial to the Dune story than in Game of Thrones, which includes TNA for ratings because HBO.

I remember when I saw this movie in the theatre the theatre was handing out primers on A4 paper. This would be a somewhat complex movie to sell to the public.

  6. I am generally opposed to remakes, unless a certain criteria is match such as:

    1. Did the originally meet a level of quality?

    2. Is there something about a remake that could be done better or done differently to distinguish it from the original? Such as could improved technology on special effects make a movie better.

    3. Was the original done in an era where it, due to current morality of the time, could not fully explore the storyline. This especially applies to novels adapted to movies.

  7. Who would you cast in a remake of Dune or tell me my way Dune should not be remade.

Here is my cast so far

Emperor Shaddam IV, Padishah Emperor of the House Corrino: Patrick Stewart

    Barron Vladimir Harkonnen: Jared Harris

    Thufir Hawat: Michael Caine

    Duke Leto Atreides: Sean Bean

    Lady Jessica: Kelly Reilly

    Paul Atreides: Taron Egerton

    Duncan Idaho: Benedict Cumberbatch

    Princes Irulan: Natalie Dormer

    Chani: Shailene Woodley

    Beast Rabben: Eddie Marsen

    Feyd Rautha: Michael Fassbender

    Shadout Mapes: Noome Repace

    Music by Howard Shore

    Directed by Joe Wright

  8. I am sure if you want the jacket Craig is wearing it will cost you £3000 and it looks effeminate.

Oh God. You're not one of the Daniel Craig is not Bond.com crew are you?

of course not. I think it is a generational thing. I think Millennials tend to be Craig fans more than Gen-Xers.

  9. Who the hell carries out snow-operations in black gear?

Lazenby wore a Navy Blue smock during the old school Commando helicopter raid on Piz Gloria in OHMSS.

Black is taking it to the next stage. :)

The navy smock Lazenby wore had a classic look. I am sure if you want the jacket Craig is wearing it will cost you £3000 and it looks effeminate. It looks midnight navy rather than black.
