  1. Oops... I goofed when I originally posted the FRWL tracklisting: Track 18 should be: Man Overboard Destroying the SPECTRE Fleet The Price of Failure (album title - SMERSH In Action) - this is where Kronsteen gets whacked. There is a brief piece of incidental music tracked in during the fight between Rosa Klebb and Bond.
  2. I'll hafta give the film a close look-see over the weekend. The main title can easily be ripped from the DVD audio (electronic sounds, re-edited James Bond Theme segue into Kingston Calypso ("Three Blind Mice").
  3. Whoops... sorry 'bout that!
  4. According to Lukas Kendall at FSM, the master tapes for Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger could not immediately be found in the EMI vaults around the time he was producing the expanded and remastered soundtracks; the soundtrack album masters were used. Goldfinger's remastered album combines the tracks from both the U.S. and the U.K releases of the album soundtrack and fixes the "Into Miami" cue into a separate cue (the original CD release combined it with "Alpine Drive/Auric's Factory"). Moonraker's soundtrack was produced in France; the location of the film master tapes is unknown. Don't know about A View To A Kill. License to Kill was produced by Warner Brothers Records; all the remastered/expanded Bond soundtracks prior to A View To A Kill are owned by EMI.
  5. Outstanding! I can live with a little dialogue with these tracks. Thanks! Maybe one of these days we'll get lucky and someone will unearth the original film music masters, just like someone found (and rescued) the kinescope of the original Casino Royale.
  6. This is only necessary if you live in Region 2. There's a PAL Speedup, you should slow it down with 4%. Where does the scene where Bond meets Tania fit in in your chronological list? Thanks! "Bond Meets Tania" is the underscore where 007 encounters Tania on the bridal suite bed. Previous to that there's another one of the many James Bond theme 'stings' as Bond enters his room after coming back from the assassination of Krilencu.
  7. If we're not at cross purposes here' date=' I think its more like the first minute, not fifteen seconds. If you want to watch this with the film, it should start (on my DVD) at 1:31:05 (when Bond starts shoving his hand into Grant's face), although remember to alter the speed for the DVD. Please correct me if we are at cross purposes here. Not a problem at all... any corrections and additions are more than welcome. My list isn't necessarily the authoritative be-all-end-all for creating a resequenced FRWL soundtrack. By altering the speed, is it slightly faster or slower to sync with the scene? I'll go check it out. Any way of extracting some of the incidental cues off the DVD audio and posting them on frwlmusic.tripod.com? Thanks!
  8. How sure are you that this is an unused track for this scene? And where would this fit in in your chronological list? Is it possible that this is an unused track somewhere from the gypsy camp? Where would you fit this one in, or is it not possible? Thanks! In earlier days, it was not unusual for official soundtrack releases to be re-recordings or include original compositions that never made it into the finished film. For example, most of the Dr. No soundtrack contains various renditions of "Jamaica Jump Up" and "Underneath The Mango Tree" that were never used in the film. "Guitar Lament", though not used in the film, is a perfect fit for the music in the scenes reminescing about Pedro Armendariz Sr.'s final days in the DVD featurette "Inside From Russia With Love".
  9. Well... after carefully watching the film on DVD, I think I've pieced together what could be the definitive soundtrack for FRWL, at least until the film music masters are found! Here goes: 1. Gun Barrel? Available at frwlmusic.tripod.com. Extracted from the DVD audio track. Gunshot removed from track. 2. Stalking - Track 15 on the FRWL soundtrack. 3. Opening Titles: James Bond Is Back/From Russia With Love/James Bond Theme ? Available at frwlmusic.tripod.com. Extracted from the DVD audio track. (NOTE: This version includes the [in]famous ?ballpark organ? heard over the film?s opening titles; the version on Track 1 on the soundtrack is another take, which does not include it.) 4. Chess Match In Venice ? Brief incidental music, not in soundtrack album. 5. SPECTRE Island ? Track 11 on the FRWL soundtrack album. 6. Tania Meets Klebb ? Track 2 on the FRWL soundtrack album. 7. From Russia With Love (sung by Matt Monro) ? Brief incidental music heard over Bond?s car radio, fades after about 15-20 seconds. Track 10 on the FRWL soundtrack. 8. James Bond With Bongos ? Track 14 on the FRWL soundtrack. 9. James Bond Theme Sting ? Brief incidental music, not on soundtrack album. Possibly extracted from ?James Bond With Bongos?. Liberally sprinkled throughout the film. 10. James Bond Theme ? Track 1 on the Dr. No soundtrack album. 11. The Cold War In Istanbul Is Getting Hotter ? First 15 seconds of ?Death of Grant? (track 9 on the FRWL soundtrack album). 12. Gypsy Camp Belly Dance ? Incidental music, not on soundtrack album. The track ?Leila Dances? (track 16 on the FRWL soundtrack) is a studio track and not used in the film. 13. Girl Trouble ? Track 5 on the FRWL soundtrack album. 14. 007 ? Track 7 on the FRWL soundtrack album. 15. Gypsy Camp ? Track 8 on the FRWL soundtrack album. 16. Assassination of Krilencu (?The Mouth of Anita Ekberg?) ? Incidental music, not in soundtrack album. 17. Bond Meets Tania ? Track 6 on the FRWL soundtrack album. 18. Meeting In St. Sophia ? Track 3 on the FRWL soundtrack album. 19. 007 Takes The Lektor ? Track 18 on the FRWL soundtrack album. Reprise of the 007 theme. 20. Death of Kerim ? Track 17 on the FRWL soundtrack album. a. Orient Express Out of Turkey b. Tania?s Fashion Show (a slightly different take of this cue is used in the film) c. The Death of Kerim/Missed Rendezvous 21. The Zagreb Express ? Incidental music not in soundtrack album. A nearly identical rendition is available on ?Bond Back In Action?. 22. Death of Grant ? The remainder of Track 9 on the FRWL soundtrack. Much of this track is not used in the film (the fight scene in the sleeper compartment between Bond and Grant is unscored). Hmmm... wonder what the fight scene would sound like scored? 23. Death of Dr. No ? Incidental music from the Dr. No soundtrack (not included in the official Dr. No soundtrack album). A nearly identical rendition is available in ?Bond Back In Action? by Nic Raine and the City of Prague Philharmonic. This also repeats at the end of ?Man Overboard?. 24. Man Overboard/SMERSH In Action ? Track 13 on the FRWL soundtrack. a. Man Overboard b. The Price of Failure (Death of Kronsteen). Actually it?s SPECTRE and not SMERSH who?s really behind the plot. 25. Death of Rosa Klebb (?She?s Had Her Kicks?) ? Incidental music, not in soundtrack. 26. From Russia With Love (sung by Matt Monro) ? Track 10 on the FRWL soundtrack. A closer rendition (at least to my ears) to the version heard over the film?s end titles is available on ?John Barry: Themeology?. UNUSED FILM MUSIC Leila Dances ? Belly dance routine studio track. (Track 16 on the FRWL soundtrack.) The Golden Horn ? Apparently not used in the film; the scene that it probably best fits in is where Bond meets Tania on the Bosporous ferry. (Track 4 on the FRWL soundtrack.) Guitar Lament ? Not used in the film. Could it be a mourning tribute to the late Pedro Armendariz, Sr.? (Track 12 on the FRWL soundtrack.)
  10. I assume this list is correct? I'll leave the Dr No cues out though myself. Concering those two last cues (unused), where would they fit in in the list itself? Thanks! Edit: What's the difference between this version on the John Barry Themeology and the soundtrack? The list is pretty much correct; not exactly sure where "The Golden Horn" fits in. "Leila Dances" appears to have been a cue for the gypsy camp dance before the girl fight. The John Barry Themeology track of the Matt Monro FRWL theme is apparently the same one as used in the film (at least to my ears). The one on the soundtrack is a different take. Hope this helps.
  11. It goes right after the cue "Circus Circus". My re-assembled DAF mix has the cues placed in the approximate location in the film: 1. GUNBARREL AND MANHUNT (3:11) 2. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - Main Title - Sung by Shirley Bassey (2:52) 3. MR. WINT AND MR. KIDD - WINT AND KIDD TO MRS. WHISTLER'S - BOND TO HOLLAND (4:32)* 4. IF THE COLLARS AND CUFFS MATCH...(3:52) 4A. TIFFANY CASE 5. PETER FRANKS (2:56)**** 6. AIRPORT SOURCE - ON THE ROAD (3:01) 7. SLUMBER, INC. (2:22) 8. HOTEL MUZAK (0:37)* 9. THE WHYTE HOUSE (2:21) 10. PLENTY, THEN TIFFANY (2:26) 11. CIRCUS, CIRCUS (2:50) 12. DIXIELAND JAZZ (3:25)* 13. ZAMBORA APPEARS (0:30)* 14. FOLLOWING THE DIAMONDS (4:03) 15. MOON BUGGY CHASE (4:16) 16. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - Source Instrumental (3:52)** 17. DEATH AT THE WHYTE HOUSE (4:53) 18. BOND SMELLS A RAT (1:52) 19. BOND MEETS BAMBI AND THUMPER (3:09) 20. Q'S TRICK (2:26) 21. 007 AND COUNTING (3:31) 22. TO HELL WITH BLOFELD (5:09) 23. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (Bond and Tiffany) (3:39) 24. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - End Title - Sung by Shirley Bassey (1:18)*** UNUSED MUSIC 25. MOON BUGGY CHASE (unused take) (1:57)* 26. BOND MEETS BAMBI AND THUMPER (unused take) (2:05)* TOTAL TIME: 77:04 * extracted from the Additional and Alternate Cues track. ** repeat of Track 4, delete if you wish. *** Edited from Track 2. Surprisingly, this wasn't too difficult to do. **** Adds only the 'Wild Sting' at the end of the 'Additional and Alternate Cues' track; placed at the beginning of 'Peter Franks'. ETA 4/10/2005: Oops! I forgot to add "Tiffany Case" (track 9 on the DAF remastered CD). This should go before "Peter Franks". This is marked 4A on this thread.
  12. Not knocking your efforts at all, Neil... you've done an outstanding job putting together the remastered Bond soundtracks in the way they should be heard and appreciated.
  13. I'm also one who likes to listen to soundtracks the way the composers intended as well, though I don't mind doing a little experimenting and trying to assemble a custom soundtrack the way it was heard on the film as well. I'm only providing the information I used to compile my 'custom' soundtracks.
  14. Here are some additions and corrections to make an even better Thunderball soundtrack: 1. Use only the first section of 'Bond Meets Domino' (up to 1:04). The calypso-like lounge music in the second section was prpbably originally intended for the rest of the scene ('My, what sharp little eyes you've got!'), but is actually unused in the film. A very small portion of the Thunderball instrumental source is used instead. You'll need to listen carefully to the DVD's audio to determine how long it is, as it fades pretty quickly. 2. How to create the end credits track as heard in the DVD: a. Take the end titles and edit out the last section containing the Thunderball end titles (after 1:05). b. Splice in an edited version of the Dr. No James Bond Theme. This version is composed of the following parts of the theme: * from the lead-in to the melody section (delete everything from the beginning (the Vic Flick twang guitar section) to that point. * Delete the second twang guitar section near the end. The edited arrangement should be like this (using the descriptions in the Monty Norman vs. The Sunday Times in the John Barry Resource page: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Bungalo...ry/lawsuit.htm) Vamp lead-in to Bebop 1 Bebop 1 and 2 Bridge Coda Total track time is 2:03. You'll need to do a little tweaking and cleanup but the transitions are quite jarring - this was tracked in when the end credits were edited to remove "JAMES BOND WILL RETURN IN ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE". Hope this helps.
  15. For those who would like to create a custom soundtrack of FRWL in film order, here's the track listing. You'll need three different CDs to compile this collection and a little searching on the web to find a decent MP3 of the FRWL gunbarrel. Some of the music is actually a rerecording and not the original, but it should work out OK, at least until the recording masters for FRWL are found (if ever). Likewise, some cues are repeated, mainly the James Bond Theme (the original Dr. No recording). CDs NEEDED: [FRWL] From Russia With Love Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (remastered) [bBIA] Bond Back In Action - [JBT] John Barry: Themeology [DN] Dr. No Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (remastered) MP3 NEEDED: From Russia With Love Gunbarrel Theme - it's on several Bond fan sites and vary in recording quality. 1. Gunbarrel [MP3] 2. Stalking [FRWL] 3. Main Titles: James Bond Is Back / From Russia With Love / James Bond Theme [FRWL] 4. SPECTRE Island [FRWL] 5. Tania Meets Klebb [FRWL] 6. From Russia With Love (Matt Monro) [FRWL] 7. James Bond With Bongos [FRWL] 8. Searching For Bugs (James Bond Theme) [DN - track 1] 9. Meeting In St. Sophia [FRWL] 10. Gypsy Camp [FRWL] 11. Girl Trouble [FRWL] 12. 007 [FRWL] 13. Guitar Lament [FRWL] 14. Bond Meets Tania [FRWL] 15. 007 Takes The Lektor [FRWL] 16. Death of Kerim [FRWL] 17. The Zagreb Express [bBIA - track 4] 18. Death of Grant [FRWL] 19. Helicopter Chase (James Bond Theme) [DN] 20. Man Overboard / SMERSH in Action [FRWL] 21. Death of SPECTRE Agents [bBIA - Track 2. Use third cue, 'Death of Dr. No'.) 22. End Titles: From Russia With Love (Matt Monro) [JBT] UNUSED TRACKS 23. The Golden Horn [FRWL] 24. Leila Dances [FRWL] Any corrections to this track list are welcome.
