Lucky for me I can take mindless entertainment at face value. I think it has something to do with not taking myself too seriously. Movies like C.H.U.D. can be just as satisfying as something like Eastern Promises, depending on the mood. 300 ticked all the right boxes in the same way as National Treasure did. I won't hold any well meaning film to account for the apparent crime of being harmless entertainment. The likes of Resident Evil and it's sequels are the real criminals in that regard.
