None of the films I saw last year will be nominated for important Oscars ®.

I would like Minority Report got many nominations, but it won't 8O

My favorite from this year was Minority Report, but I wouldn't expect it to get nominated. I know CoS won't be nominated. CMIYC was also great, so I don't really know about that.

Catch Me and TTT are my two favs from this past year. Haven't seen Minority Report yet, but plan on renting it soon.

Minority Report is my favorite of the year also (seen it 5 times).

Slightly behind it is Gangs of New York (Only Once so far)

Road to Perdition (3 times) and Signs (3 times) are third

Red Dragon (3 Times) and TTT (Twice) are Fourth.

CMIYC only gets here on Feb. 6th :)

I'm gonna see Rabbit Proof Fence tonight.

Movies I want to see (but havn't gotten here yet)- Adaptation (I can't wait for this one), chicago (didn't look all that good to me- but word is it's pretty good, so I'll see it. Well, it was made because of Moulin Rouge, which I loved), Punch Drunk love (P.T. Anderson's Magnolia is a brillliant movie, my favorite of 1999), Nicholas Nickleby (Love Dickens, looks like an amazing cast), The Hours (Sounds great), Far From Heaven (also sounds great), Spirited away (Been hearing great things) and The Quiet American (Also been hearing great things)

Anyway as for the oscars- I don't think MR will be nominated, don't think CMIYC will win. Gangs of New York and Scorsese deserve to win, Although I have no idea if this will be.

BTW- I am somewhat of an expert on the oscars, and usualy pretty good at prediction. This year I'm really stumped. It's a free for all. Last year I could have told you in december that Beautiful Mind was gonna win Picture, director and writer. Although, I did think Russel Crowe was gonna win for sure, but then the whole BAFTA thing happened. Washington is the most deserving winner in a while.

I'd say MR has great chances for the VFX and Sound Editing, Road to Perdition should get the cinematography, Supporting actor should go to

Christopher Walken or Chris Cooper, Best actor to Day Lewis. Writing had no outstanding achievments last year (nothing like the wonderful Gosford Park, which won last year) and actress has too many candidates (of which I've seen none) to tell.

Bowling for Columbine definatly deserves best documentry, Y Tu Mama Tambien (The wonderful Mexican movie directed by HP3 dircetor, Alfonso Cuaron) should, but probably won't, get the best foreign film- Almovodar's Talk to her was disqualified.

Score is a big question. If TESB couldn't do it, I'd disown the oscars were TTT to win. I think Road to Perdition has good chances, I don't get the feeling Signs will get it, and I think JW has outworn his welcome, although I'll keep my fingers crossed (for CoS). I don't know really know the other.

Adaptation (I can't wait for this one)

Awesome film. Meryl Streep continues to wow me.

chicago (didn't look all that good to me- but word is it's pretty good, so I'll see it. Well, it was made because of Moulin Rouge, which I loved)

Chicago has been talked about for about 20 years. It's been a dream of Bob Fosse's to turn into a movie. Moulin Rouge simply beat Chicago to the screen, and it shows. I get a headache watching Moulin Rouge. I can't help smiling when I watch Chicago.

Swept away (Been hearing great things)

;) Surely you jest.

Yeah, this is going to be a good Oscar show. Nothing is running away with the award just yet, though The Hours is making a strong case. And Chicago isn't far behind.

Y Tu Mama Tambien (The wonderful Mexican movie directed by HP3 dircetor, Alfonso Cuaron) should, but probably won't, get the best foreign film- Almovodar's Talk to her was disqualified.

Y Tu Mama Tambien was Mexico's submission to the OScars last year, so it can't be submitted for foreign language film this year. Mexico's submission this year is The Crime of Father Amaro, which isn't a bad film and stars one of the guys from Mama. But Talk to Her and Mama are eligible for other awards, like Best Picture.

Signs will be one of the five. As will Far From Heaven and Road to Perdition. John Williams should take one of the other two spots. I think Philip Glass will take the other based on the fact that he scored the big Oscar picture, as Horner did last year.

Of course I jest, But not on purpose. I got mixed up- I meant Spirited away. I edited so no one would lose all respect for me.

I do not share your optimism about thwe score. The Golden Globes have shown us that no summer films have been nominated, so I think 2-3 in the oscars, particulaly when neither has won any other awards is unlikely.

Road to Perdition is overall more melody inspired than anything else, as opposed to Signs (Which says nothing about the score - I like Signs far more than Road to Perdition)

Last year Monsters Inc. was nominated- which to me says something about the acadamy's knowledge. (I wish the fifth would be The Mummy Returns)

ROTFLMAO Surely you jest.

LOL I've seen Spirited Away 5 times.

It's really good.

So, I'd hope that Spirited Away gets nominations for Best Score, Best Art Direction/Cinematography, and Best Animated Feature (it better win....or else I will lose all faith in Oscars  !)

And also, The pianist, for best score. HP-COS is probably unlikely to win.....
