I'm disappointed by this news. I'd definitely pay for a complete Crusade, and the decision to include KotCS is just strange - why not make them available separately in which form they're more likely to be picked up on whim by the average Joe?

Stepmom, Sleepers, AotC
Wouldn't want any of that garbage in return though.

Only seen Sleepy Hollow. Really should watch more Burton (and general) movies, but oddly as a filmmaking buff, watching movies is what I seem to get around to the least.
-
I've seen about the first four or so episodes, they just didn't grip me or compel me to watch the next one.
-
they dropped ILM and it shows...
After the crappy job ILM did on the second Mummy film I don't blame them for going elsewhere.
Heck yeah. The SFX in Mummy Returns was some of the worst I've ever seen.
And I've just realise... in 3 years, it'll be a decade since it was released
Trailer looks ok, but I'm bothered by them having to Bring Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh (I think) on. And don't get me started on that narrator's voice.

B - giving the score the benefit of the doubt.
I don't think it's a bad score, it's just nowhere near an Indy score for me.
-
That was genius!
-
You don't watch it either eh?
(not saying it's bad, I just never got hooked on it)
The TV seasons are a little out of kilter at the moment thanks to the writers' strike (and I still can't believe how mean the studios were being if the stats widely reported really were true). My brother and I have made a spreadsheet telling us when episodes are on - we watch so little actual TV that we need reminding.

Great episode, although I really do think the whole
Ryan getting busted
thing was going a bit too extreme for a show that's meant to be fairly light hearted.
And that ending was a real moment, and given how Angela reacted earlier, not entirely unexpected, and the Kevin storyline was just cute.
Didn't realise it was the season finale though until those things appeared on screen

The first seven notes of the Raiders march is a section of the Star Wars theme played backwards.

I approached him politely in intermission, telling him I enjoyed his work as an actor; he half-heartedly said "thank you" and then rolled his eyes at me and turned away with the clear intent of trying to ignore me.
I guess actors these days want to hear something a little less cliched than 'I'm a huge fan' or 'I love your work'.
But rolled eyes... not the most courteous thing to do. Especially since he didn't have a mob of people all trying to gush on him.

Yeah...this nails John Williams into Jerry Goldsmith's last 10 years category...
"Interesting rehashes of everything we've heard before, and a few striking creative cues."
I think you've nailed it. There doesn't seem to be anything new, stylistically. I've heard WotW, Minority Report, Hook, Home Alone and Superman.
And let me add: Thank God!
Williams has a consistent, well-defined style (that obviously encompasses a whole host of references), and has had for a very, very long time.
Now, there can be technical evolvement within stylistic confines, and KOTCS certainly has plenty of it!
Again, "The Adventures of Mutt" being a perfect case-in-point.
I don't think anyone's arguing that his style is wrong.
As I've said before, I can't put my finger on exactly what's lacking with this score - it just hasn't really done it for me.
-
Regardless, as I said with Horner and Jerry, I will say it with Williams.
There is nothing inherently bad with ripping off BRILLIANT materials.
I agree, but it's what you do with those materials that matter.

The end of the finale cue is indeed a refreshing take on it.
I'd say I'm 'impressed' by roughly half the album, with the other half just being fairly standard Williams music.
I really wish I could share the enthusiasm of you guys, but I guess our differences are what make this place interesting

With regard to the album assembly, Ramiro Belgardt also assembled the album for Revenge of the Sith. Make of that what you will.
It means this thing's probably hacked to pieces and missing many crucial cues, particularly from the last part of the movie.
I would bet money on that being why I'm finding the album very underwhelming at the moment.
I'm really hoping the film's good now, after all these negative reports.

Hidden Treasure an the City of Gold: 3:22 maybe Williams was a little confused on which project he is working?
But it sounds so brilliant great and pure jw'ish!
It's copied and pasted pretty much.

I'm guilty of not reading the post properly too.

(ok, what did that achieve exactly?)

I think there might be an edit when Mutt's theme comes in - the transition from Iriana just doesn't sound natural. And since when has a Williams album ever presented an action cue like this exactly as it appeared in the film?
richuk - fully expecting a long list of cues he's overlooked.

I am getting very alarmed that were in for a mindblowing Finale in the film instead of this hack job on the c.d.
big question :Why are there so many subdued underscore cues on the c.d.? That "editor" dude likes them better than the thematic material,or that is really the best music available?
It's not possible that Marion's theme only shows up in the Finale either .And there's not much of Mutt's theme in the score either.
I think we've seen more than enough evidence in the past that Williams' album editor doesn't give a sh!t about presenting proper finales.
But Indy4 was right - we need to see the film before making any rash judgements, including me
-
5 Stars - for the promo that is.

Crusade is my favourite film and score.
Not even Joey will persuade me otherwise.
-
Finale really does sound like a copy/paste track - most of the transitions sound a little forced to me, particularly the march to Iriana transition.
I think it's going to take a film viewing to appreciate this score more - I'm not warming to it as much as I hoped to. Don't get me wrong, there are some excellent bits, but overall, it's fallen short of my expectations unfortunately.
In fact, I'm finding tracks 11-16 a little dull right now. Pity.
-
I've given the album a full listen, and my initial opinion is: very good, but definitely nowhere near great.
I don't know what it is exactly - all four primary themes are constantly quoted, but somehow, it's missing something. Maybe Iriana's theme doesn't quite work intermingled in the action sequences, and there seem to be many periods where not a hell of a lot actually happens (I put The Snake Pit on at work, and after a few minutes forgot I was listening to music - it failed to keep my attention).
Plus Iriana's theme - I just don't think it's that great TBH, a little too formulaic.
Although this will probably improve, especially once I've seen the film next week, my initial rating is 7/10

4 CDs and 4 scores doesn't allow for expanded releases. Doesn't matter if she can't confirm anything.
