If it did happen that way, he was certainly restricted on what to release music-wise.
-
Im just glad the music is released. If there's a better set in the future I'll just buy it again
That's what they want you to think.
Hopefully the money made from this set will be invested in COMPLETE SCORE releases in the near future...
Come to think of it, Blu-Ray isolated scores would be great, given what we have gotten with this set.
-
The amount of people that would notice an error is irrelevant. more quality control should have gone into this set so there were no mistakes.
Yes. The faults of this set are far too numerous.
The Raiders of the Lost Ark pitch / speed foul-up is inexcusable. Any chance of a replacement disc if we complain to Concord?
(This reminds me of the incorrectly-framed Back To The Future DVDs a few years ago. Replacement discs were issued once you returned the faulty ones.)

"The Rope Bridge" isn't the most exciting cue, but it still should've been on either Disc 2 or 5. It is one of the final parts of the film after all.
As well as Prof. Jones is Shot / The Penitent Man Will Pass. Absurd that it is not included.

Nice. I'll definitely attend the Houston concerts. I'll have to see about the Dallas one in April.
-
I would, as well.
Most of the Hal Leonard recordings are played by college ensembles.
Some of those arrangements / performances are quite impressive.

Ok, here's something good...
The Hal Leonard website sells sheet music. I'm playing in a local community college band, and we're performing this JW arrangement in our upcoming concert:

Upon doing some searching, look what I found:

Click on the volume icon.... ALL 3 NFL CUES performed by a marching band ensemble.
Here's more JW sheet music / clips. Most of the pieces are arranged for wind ensemble (without strings).
(A warning: all of the selections have edits, short volume drops, or beeps.)

It's late, so I'll name the hyperlinks tomorrow.
Enjoy!

Do any of you know where I can get good version of "You're a Sweet Little Headache" form Last Crusade? I have one that sounds pretty good but it is hard to tell if it the same one used in the film. Incase some of you don't know what I am talking about this is the music Elsa is playing when Indy enters her room.
It's probably the Benny Goodman/Martha Tilton version, but you'd have to check the Last Crusade end credits to be sure. You can preview 30-sec of it from amazon:
For the most complete soundtrack, this song will have to be included...
-
A few of the DCC cds can be found a bit cheaper on ebay. I was considering selling mine, but have decided to hold on to in for now.
Over the next month, I plan to hunt down as many of the unreleased Indy cues as possible, so I can insert/edit them into the official set. What fun...
-
They have things like "chilled strawberry soup" in the Lido restaurant before the soups.
Better than "chilled monkey brains"... Disc 5, hopefully.
-
It occurred to me that Marion's Theme and the re-arranged Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra (that Neil heard the LAPO rehearsing) could appear on disc 5.
-
The rest of the music from KotCS CD should be on Disc 4, omitting tracks from the KotCS soundtrack. We don't need the same music again. We just bought it a few months ago.
-
Best case scenario: only 90% of the scores will fit onto the 5 discs. I hope the four primary discs are filled to capacity, chronologically arranged, will all important cues. Disc 5 should keep the interviews to a minimum (max. 10 min.) to leave more space for unreleased music. Bouzereau omitted cues from his E.T. release, yet didn't fill the disc to capacity. Hopefully he will not do the same here.
I would guess that most of the people who are were going to buy this product would have paid more for the complete scores. Clearly, they're leaving the door open for another Indy music release.
I pre-ordered this set and hope for the best...
-
GHOST WARRIOR sold out a few hours ago.
-
Compared to The Last Crusade OST, the music in the film itself sounds much clearer. The remastered Last Crusade should sound noticeably better than the OST.
How could the interview be worth an entire CD? The JW interview should be 10-20 minutes, which leaves another hour open for more unreleased music.
Why doesn't Concord release the track listing? Could the set's cue inclusions still be undetermined? Or are they just building the suspense...

Like KM said. Dracula, without a doubt.
-
A bit off topic...
A music question from a friend:
There's some classical music played in the movie The Island with Michael Caine that I've been searching for years. I have the soundtrack by Morricone, but it's not on it. I don't know the name of the piece or the artist, although I've heard it on the radio a few times. If you've seen the movie, it's the music played during the scenes where the pirates raid the sail boat and Naval ship.
I'm sure one of you knows the music he refers to.
Thanks in advance.

This week, I will eat birthday cake. What kind/flavor shall I go for?

The Incredibles
Back to the Future III
Waterworld

You people don't know what your missing!
Excellent job, KM!
-
Yeah, but the real problem is that a CD of this stuff hasn't been produced. It's as if the owners/distributors of the recordings are teasing the fans on a daily basis.
They could put a sticker on the wrapper: Music by John Williams, "Academy Award-Winning composer of Star Wars and Schindler's List".
-
But take the music away from the broadcast, and they'd notice it missing...
-
Yeah, I'm hearing a few new ones too. One in particular tonight was awesome - completely new music.
NBC/Sony should release these newly-recorded bumpers and themes on CD - at least a limited pressing for the fans. They could include everything from that NBC recording session a few years ago and the more recent one.
What's holding them back from doing this? Had it been released a few weeks ago, it surely would have sold many thousands of copies. Is it really a financial matter or is there some other reason?
This is John Williams and the Olympics, for crying out loud!
-
When conducting, Kunzel certainly seems to know what he wants from the orchestra. There's always lots of energy and precision. But some of his recorded performances have balancing issues, seem over-rehearsed, and the music is often forced.
A couple of weeks ago, didn't Erich Kunzel conduct the Chicago Symphony (and chorus) in a concert entirely of JW music? I think it was an outdoor, Tanglewood-like setting. Can anyone confirm this?
I would have loved to have gone, but it would have been a 2000-mile round trip... I did attend JW's recent Chicago concerts, though.

No. Raiders of the Lost Ark is ten times more important than those scores combined. Thank goodness for the DCC release. I have good ears but would have noticed the mastering blunder from the track times. I'm surprised LB didn't. It shows that this was a rushed product. The (paying) fans deserve better. We'll just end up paying for another one of their attempts. I would prefer a surround sound isolated score on the eventual IJ Blu-Ray box-set.
True. But this really pissed me off. What a wasted opportunity...
Having said this, I will enjoy what they've chosen to give us this time.
