I so wish one could, but all the tracks are still album-only, and I don't want to spend $10 twice. I suppose substituting those two tracks for their original 1993 counterparts isn't the worst compromise, but having those two remastered and intact would be just dandy.

Adventure On Earth. BUT, I must comment: some say that The Ultimate War is mostly action upon action. 'Tis true, but, a.) these are two very different finales that in some ways don't deserve comparison, although the comparison being made here is totally understood. b.) we must remember what action upon action means to A LOT of other composers. Johnny's got the melodic drive, which adds heart to the most action-driven sequences. I always feel like in a spielberg action sequence, we're drawn in not simply by the thrills (and we sure as heck are), but the mix of wit, humor, and stakes involved on a human level (even in - actually, ESPECIALLY in the jungle chase sequence in Indy 4. That's right, I said it.) Nothing can beat the emotion that Adventure On Earth is worth. But if I was stranded on a desert island with just Ultimate War on my iPod, I would have absolutely nothing to complain about.

I couldn't resist being obsessive, and possibly making choices that Williams would shake his head toward: this is my official tracklist combining the original Tintin soundtrack, the promo score, and the background score on the UK Tintin site, "Live The Adventure." This is only the tracklist, but I have edited everything together, meaning I have taken the fullest bits of promo tracks that have been edited down in their OST counterparts (and vice-versa) and used careful iMovie crossfading to the best of my ability to get it all together in a way that sounds pleasing on its own and overall faithful to the score as heard in the film. I've made sure each cut between OST to promo is as smooth as humanly possible, with some strangeness in the crossfades just here and there. Because of the number of edits and loops that appear on both soundtracks, my discussion of my track list won't be nearly as detailed as E.T. Here goes! The Adventures Of Tintin The promo version; it contains overlays of extra percussion and muted trumpet (at about 1:46 on the OST) that're awesome additions Snowy’s Theme The OST version; no differences. The Secret Of The Scrolls The OST version; no differences. Despite the clean ending on the promo, the promo has one weird edit, the OST one works just fine. Introducing The Thompsons, And Snowy’s Chase* 0:00-1:43 - Promo 1:43-2:00 - OST (1:43-1:52 on Promo, but with original euphonium bit edited in). 2:00-2:28 - Promo (alternate to first encounter with Silk) 2:28-5:27 - just as it appears on OST (end of Silk's getaway to end of snowy's chase). Promo edits are fixed, and extended stringline with snowy at the window is included (this brings me to loops that Jason LeBlanc mentioned in his analysis; sometimes I don't think they're always loops, but they're full versions of edits made in the OST. When the promo loops sound smooth enough, I include them, if they don't, I back off.) Marlinspike Hall Mix of OST and Promo; second half of OST is in there, edits made on Promo are fixed, and loops & longer instrumental lines are included. Escape From The Karaboudjan About the same as OST, with loops and extended instrumental lines within first 45 seconds or so, and the Snowy's Chase insert is excluded (i considered keeping it, but it felt too awkward, and I'm pretty sure it's a slightly sped-up version of 3:02-3:09 of Snowy's Chase in OST Track #4 ) Sir Francis And The Unicorn ​Wow, tons of edits throughout. I've included looping in the promo version that sounded smooth enough, and I've most certainly brought in the original OST intro that's not there for some reason. Important: I have removed the Old Enemies Meet insert present in the promo version; the OST instrumental that occurs there instead flows nicer, and we'll be hearing Old Enemies Meet later in top form on Clash and Thirst in my playlist Captain Haddock Takes The Oars* The first half has the new promo intro, and edits made on the promo excluding OST bits are fixed. The second half is all OST (this brings me to my end credits; when there were alternate forms of large segments of a track, like capturing Silk in this case, I chose either the promo version of it or the OST version and integrated it into my own custom end credits. The original mix of Sir Francis, Snowy's Theme, and Adventure Continues are all still there. Tracks with material moved to the credits are marked with an asterix *). Don't worry, the credits don't sound splice-y . Feather Knife ​Normal edits fixed. NAME: Promo verison. Red Rackham’s Curse And The Treasure ​Normal edits fixed. Portuguese Plane ​The promo version; no differences. I love whoever put the promo together to death for putting it in, and I figured that I shouldn't just put it in semi-sequentially after Haddock Takes The Oars. Following suit on Williams' customary presentation-ordering of tracks on initial releases, I decided the best spot for this was between Rackham and Silk. It's not the best balance of quiet-and-action music, but it's close enough, and its a way to make it precede Flight To Bagghar by just enough. NAME: From Complete Cue List, courtesy of Jason LeBlanc. Just as side note; if they ever rerelease this soundtrack with bonus tracks, my votes are on the originally-intended Picking Pockets, a proper presentation of "Je Veux Vivre," and a compilation of more Karaboudjan music entitled, I'm Tintin, By The Way. Capturing Mr. Silk ​The OST version; no differences. The Flight To Bagghar ​Various edits fixed, some loops included, unreleased bits definitely included, and brief silences included but trimmed slightly so we don't hear the dead space. The Milanese Nightingale ​Promo intro added, and edits on promo fixed. Presenting Bianca Castafiore ​The OST version; no differences (So hope to God, if they rerelease this soundtrack one day, we will get all the opera source used, and be spared the chinking glass and splice between Fleming's high C & F) The Pursuit Of The Falcon** ​Oh gosh, dozens of edits here, this was the hardest track to edit. I constantly alternate between promo and OST, but I will say that pretty much all of the unreleased bits Jason LeBlanc mentioned are present, and I've included both versions of Haddock jumping onto the jeep yelling "Geronimo!" (this is one of my weaker edits). The reason for the double asterix is that the alternate ending is not in the end credits; I decided that since it already appears on the background score - the last track - I'd keep it there. The Captain’s Counsel ​The OST version, save for just one edit to include the full mystery solving segment present on the OST. The Clash Of The Cranes* ​Lots of edits, but mostly for the first half, since the promo contains unreleased material, but is edited down from bits present in OST. The Map Room: Dawn is the defining name of that track on every release!!! I use OST titles usually, I respect that they've been carefully chosen for the soundtrack release. I don't care TOO too much for consistency. In fact my raiders soundtrack is a pretty even mix of 2008 release names and 1996 ones, with the name for the end credits taken out of the original polypor (the 6-min. "Raiders Of The Lost Ark"). With E.T., though, I just got so frustrated at how many times they used E.T. in the titles, there could've come up with something better, and luckily "E.T. Is Dying" and "Losing E.T." have very suitable replacements on the cue sheet. I LOVE Giacchino's bad puns!!

It's final!!! I've officially compiled everything together, my original post has been edited permanently, the most major change being that I have moved E.T.'s Halloween and put The Magic Of Halloween in its rightful place!

Use the 1st! That's the concert version! This reminds me... Is it 1. Raiders March 2. Raiders' March 3. Raider's March ? Believe it or not, all 3 have been used! And they are all the same piece! Really! How interesting! I have my complete compiled thing of the original Indy score, that wasn't nearly as complicated as E.T. Let's see. "Raider's" would refer to one lone raider, which isn't so correct since so many people are after the ark. "Raiders'" does make sense, so it would be like the March possessed by the Raiders in grammatical terms. But on all the original soundtrack releases, and in the title, it is just "Raiders" with no apostrophe, referring to the march pertaining to all the collective, plural Raiders. So Josh500, I would definitely say stick with "Raiders", as that would be true to the original soundtrack titling, and how the grammatical use of the title was originally intended I'd guess! And by that logic, I think I'm going to stick with "Adventure On Earth" by Stefan's suggestion. My apologies, Josh500! The two big concert arrangements of Williams' themes easily available on iTunes and on regular CDs are "Adventures On Earth" and "The Flying Theme." I'm using The Flying Theme's concert title only because that was its recording session title too, but 'tis not the case with A.O.E., and otherwise I feel outside concert arrangement titles should stay out of my naming. Even though I'm using my own title names for several tracks, so I AM kinda cheating but....yeah.

Question for the general public: Which one should I use: 1. AdventureS On Earth (the 'S' is always added for concert performances of the shortened version of the cue) OR... 2. Adventure On Earth (without the S, as read on the 1982 OST cue.)

End Credits (2002) (3:49) - These are the original end credits as heard in the film, and again, it ain't cool I shunned it. But I feel like the 1996 alternate is essentially the same, but with extra orchestral and percussive flourish accompanying the piano solo. *Concert Arrangement Ordering: Over The Moon, Abandoned And Pursued, E.T. And Me, Halloween. We all love it when Williams does concert arrangements during the recording sessions, it's somethin' special. And as typical on many soundtrack releases, he'll include many of them at the beginning of the soundtrack to start building the story's immersive subtext, if that makes any sense. So I've chosen the bicycle theme (which I can't help equating to Prologue in Sorcerer's Stone in both its duration and relatively sparse orchestral use), the military theme to firmly establish the threat and menace for the viewer early on (it also flows very well; it begins on the same pizzicato string note that Over The Moon ends on), the friendship theme to provide the quieter emotional edge, and E.T.’s Halloween round things out. NOTE: My personal preference is sandwiching these four in between Main Titles and Far From Home/E.T. Alone, but please tell me if it's perhaps a better idea to put the four first, THEN Main Titles & Far From Home. The Flying Theme: This is sorta tough: this is the epitome of the film in terms of concert arrangements, its basically the entire story's summarizing theme. It felt weird plopping it in the middle, so I decided to end the soundtrack with it because of its conclusive feel, and because it would perhaps have been to much to blow all the orchestral steam at the beginning of the playlist. However, the second half of this and End Credits are almost exactly the same, so it is sort of repeat. Feel free to give opinions and preferences. *See Note Below (yes, I mean edits. don't worry, they're not many. Please speak out, I know this is tampering.) Michael's Search. All I've done is begin with the 1996 intro, and I have it crossfade into the 2002 intro. I couldn't pick between the two! Stay With Me. Otherwise known as "E.T. Is Dying," I hated having to again pick between two different intros. These "intros" take up the bulk of the track in both the laserdisc and 2002 versions (1:37 long each), so it's basically my own weird compilation: I have the 2002 intro lead into the laserdisc intro, and it works well; Williams music works so well for mixing stuff together. Adventure On Earth. The big cheese. All my edits are based on Jason LeBlanc's awesome spreadsheet of finale differences. Basically what I've done is this: The first half is all the original 1982 version, with the triangle at 6:53 and the 4 seconds of silence between "Chase" and "Saying Goodbye." I've edited the "Ouch" insert in, and have it fade into the original ouch bit. I've got the extra horns of the 1982 version, and finally the smooth transition at 13:45 and clean ending of 2002 version. *Renaming: Original Released Titles: #1-4, 6, 11, 20, 21, 24, 27-29 Recording Session Titles: #5, 9, 10, 16, 19, 23, 25, 26, 30 Laserdisc-Specific Titles: #7, 15, 18 My Own Titles: #8, 12, 13 (quotations removed), 14, 17, 22 The primary reason I've created my own names, used recording session titles, or switched names around is because I kept thinking the original titles in the 1996 and 2002 soundtracks used E.T.'s name far to dang much! I like titles that flow well and feel full, but again, any criticisms or suggestions are welcome!
