Ahhh, the Height of Japanese filmmaking.

Just finished watching the Rebirth of Mothra.

Clearly the best of the best of Japanese filmmaking.

And what a wonderful film Rebirth of Mothra is.

Not only does Mothra vanquish the evil 3 headed Ghidera,

but it teaches environmentalism as well.

Plus its beautiful use of the ending from ET is so heartfelt and touching.

While some would say that it blatantly steals the ending from ET, nearly shot for shot, including the rainbow, I cannot but applaud its imitation as the flattery it is intended.

Truely great filmmaking, the very height of Japanese filmmaking.

I can see I wasn't the only one who had nothing to do this afternoon and watched Mothra. LOL

Actually I do have a fondness for Godzilla and Co. That and the Bandai action figure for King Ghidorah is cool.

If you like cool Daie Kaiju films, check out Majin:Monster of Terror. It takes place in Feudal Japan and centres around this giant statue of an imprisoned evil demon god which eventually comes to life and kicks some major butt. Very impressive effects for the time and Akira Ifukube's music is excellent!
