Blah blah blah.

James Bond is one of those attention grabbers. Whenever news or sales figures run low, a paper or magazine runs an article on Bond (or Harry Potter, for that matter). It just gets annoying. These are old quotes. Brosnan's already said it's done. He's not coming back. They're not considering him either.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the possibility at this point. The article gains some credit on the mere fact that nobody has the part. Obviously they need to get things moving as this has drug on long enough. They either didn't get the actor they wanted, or they just can't make up their minds on whom else to cast. Perhaps they are now having second thoughts about reinventing the character to a younger Bond for at least this film. I really hope he does come back, even if it's only for one more.

...I won't believe anything untill I see him in the Gunbarrel for Casino Royale.

That doesn't mean anything. Connery wasn't in the gun barrel in Dr No!

As for Brosnan I loved him in Goldeneye, but I've been enjoying his portrayal of Bond less and less with each successive film. He was almost unpleasent to watch in Die Another Day in my opinion, grunting his way through his lines, delivering his one-liners as if he was embarassed of them, all innuendo and no sophistication. Admittedly the last few Bonds were pretty poor films, but I don't think Brosnan's increasingly lazy approach to the character did anything to help matters. Roger Moore had some rotten material to work with, but still managed to inject Bond with his own inimitable personality in every film, even the dire View to a Kill (despite being far too old to carry it off properly by then!). Moore, like him or loathe him, was always consistent in his approach to the role, as was Connery. Brosnan on the other hand has been very hit-and-miss, seemingly in direct proportion to the quality of the film. If they're really going to change the style of the movies I hope they take the opportunity to cast a better Bond.

Whatever will happen, will happen, but i'm only trusting the Gun Barrel at this point.

(Though following that logic, Bob Simmons would have been Bond in the first few films)

Oops, I hadn't seen this post when I made my first comment above. 8O

I disagree with everything you just said!

As I have said before in another Bond related thread, the decay of the Bond franchise has little to do with Pierce Brosnan and more to do with the Broccolis.

I'm not sure I'd say the other three were outstanding.Goldeneye was very good, but even there they introduced the beginning of these ridiculous death defying sequences with him skydiving into that plane. That seems to be the direction the Broccolis want to take the character...more of an action hero instead of a suave stylish one. Tomorrow Never Dies was where the decline starts for me. I didn't like that one at all. The World Is Not Enough was much better and competes with Goldeneye as the best Brosnan Bond in my opinion. You're right Steef, Die Another Day did start off with promise, but that went by the wayside once we get to Iceland.

The main villain from DAD acted just like Lord Flashhart from the Blackadder series. It's difficult to be afraid of a Bond villain when you keep expecting him to shout "Am I pleased to see you or did I just put a canoe in my pants?"

Haha. That's true actually. I'm not sure if it's Flashhart, but he certainly reminded me of someone...

When GoldenEye hit the theatres I was like 'O no, come on, we've had enough Bondmovies' - when in fact I'm a fan.

The Bondmovies that followed proved IMO that the formula had indeed run it's course (though I do enjoy them to a certain degree, mostly GoldenEye), but ironically Brosnan became my favourite Bond-actor.

So I'm not waiting for yet another Bond-movie, but if there has to be one, I wouldn't mind at all if Brosnan was in it.
