Miguel Andrade 1,263
Harmonica master Toots Thielemans passed away yesterday, during sleep. Thielemans played jazz harmonica for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Miles Davies Charlie Parker and Ella Fitzgerald, but I'm sure that around here he will be mostly remembered as the harmonica soloist in two Williams scores from 1973: Cinderella Liberty and Sugarland Express (he also was soloist in Barry's Midnight Cowboy, and probably many more I'm not aware of). He also was a guest of several Evening at Pops shows with John Williams conducting (later appearing as soloist in the 1991 recording The Spielberg/Williams Collaboration). I have his 90th anniversary concert, featuring many of his most famous compositions, played by himself, and I highly recommend everyone to check that one -- though it has no Williams music on.
