Okay...so tonight, I was in a mood where I started listening to those DVD rips from the ToD score ("Underground Chaos"). It was just so much fun...I put the DVD itself in to get the full effect. And it was fun! The ever-growing likelihood of getting a new Indy score is sending chills up my spine right now. So I started asking myself some questions.

Since this will probably be the definite last Indy score, is someone going to hire the LSO? Gotta go out with a bang, ya know?

Two, what kind of approach will we see JW take? Are we going to get an action score like Raiders, a fun score like ToD, or a serious score like Last Crusade. If I had to predict what will happen, I might go with a second serious score--Spielberg and Williams are old and they're doing movies for older people. On the other hand, Spielberg's said this is the sweet dessert we get for all the serious movies he's made lately. And I certainly hope so. So maybe we'll get a fun movie/score out of this?

I guess it comes down to the type of film Spielberg ends up making. Crusade was a father/son picture, so it ended up being a bit more intimate, especially with Indy's increasing issues with religion. The setting of ToD dictated the music for that film, and Raiders introduced it all, being a little more 50's in style, and having a higher level of camp then the others.

So, when we find out what the premise of the 4th film is about, we'll know a little more about what to expect.

Well, if you are able to trust Lucas in any capacity whatsoever, then the waiting shouldn't be too much longer. Supposedely we'll have some production happening at the end of this year.

I hope that if Williams scores Indy 4,then they use the LSO so there will be less musician re-use fees to increase our chances of an eventual complete score release.

I'm sure Spielberg's gotta be dying to hear the LSO do one of his movies, too. This is the last Indy film, so why not go for bust.

i thought all the indy movies (and scores) were fun? :D

Indeed, every movie (and score) has its own fun and serious part.

In ToD, there are fun parts, like the "Bug tunnel and death trap", with the same six-notes motif repeated faster and faster, but there are serious parts, like the "Slave children's crusade".

In LC there are funny parts like the Zeppelin "No ticket" moment, and serious parts like the finale (Henry's shot and Indy hurrying up to save him).

I'm sure that if Spielberg REALLY wanted the LSO to score one of his films, it would have happened by now.

I mean it's not like anyone is saying NO to him anymore.

Besides, Raiders was a Spielberg film.

I'd like it to be the LSO. Temple of Doom sounded more like the LSO than the studio orchestra. I bet JW will suggest the LSO, because he implied incorrectly in that radio interview that all 3 Indy's were LSO (when he said they used no click track for the 1st 3 SW and 3 Indy's because London didn't have it there)
