Ingo 0 Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 ....now what should I do?!?!I bought some out-of-print CDs from www.monstersinmotion.comand because I was suspicious of the rather low prices for those hard-to-come-by CDs I asked them if they were selling CD-Rs or the real stuff. The answer was that they only sell genuine CDs no CD-Rs.I got my CDs and they were all CD-Rs.Including home-printed covers (those were even incomplete) and fake printing on the CDs. They were obviously trying to make them look genuine, but even my girlfriend who's not into CD collecting saw it at the first sight that it was all homemade by them.I e-mailed them saying that I wanted original stuff no CD-Rs, and that I think it's illegal to sell CD-Rs of out-of-print CDs.So they offered me to send them back and get back the money minus a dubious "restocking fee".I think that's rediculous! Why should I get back less than I paid, when it was their fault all the way!!!?? Anyone here who can suggest any help?I'm thinking about filing mailfraud.Anyone else....Do not buy from monstersinmotion if you want genuine stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 Email them back with a counter offer. They will give you back your money PLUS the extra shipping costs of sending back the CDr's.And if they do not agree to this, tell them that you file for mailfraud.Stefancos- who will NEVER order there.
Lurker 5 Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 Hopefully you have all of your correspondence with them saved. This is clearly an illegal operation. Best of luck to you!Neil
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 We could gang up against them and start an slander campaign. With email boms.Stefancos- who will destroy all his foes.

Ollie 1,375 Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 Actually they sell both regular CDs and un-mentionables of scores. While I've bought mostly models from them I've never had any problems. All of their models and toys are legitimate. I've even been to their store and the salesperson told me that certain cds were not the actual item. Of course they are not the only ones who do it, Footlight, Supercollector etc etc all have their un-authorized CDs. I'm suprised they weren't up fron with you.I would definitely get my money back.
Chris ChrusherComix 67 Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 Last summer I got ripped off on ebay. I bought what I thought were pressed Harry Potter VCDs for my then-girlfriend's birthday (I already had the DVDs, but she couldn't play those). When I got them they were CD-Rs and if that wasn't bad enough, I got bashed for that when she dumped me and left me for an old rich man on her birthday. LOL
Guest Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 I kind of had a similar experience on eBay with Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss (a Jean Shepard made-for-TV Disney movie). I bought it for my mom, since we lost our copy years ago. When I got it, I found out it was a copy and not the real thing. I wound up paying a lot more than I probably should've for a copy. But at least we have it. The vendors did an impressive job of trying to make it look like the original. If I hadn't seen the pixels on the sticker that was on the tape, I would've thought they just had to make a new box to hold the original tape.
Rogue_Leader 2 Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 Damn that sucks dude.See this is why I will NEVER order from an outfit I know nothing about. I have to know people who have ordered from a place before I order from it. Otherwise who knows if you are getting ripped off.
Morn 8 Posted May 5, 2003 Posted May 5, 2003 pressed Harry Potter VCDs Hehe, pressed VCD's, that's a laugh, you seriously expected them to be pressed. LOL
