Guest Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
ocelot 565 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 As much as some of us have no problems engaging in discussions about politics and religion, in fact a lot of us love to do it, we can not go into a subject like that on this website. For one, it isn't what this website was created for, and even though this is other topics, the creator of the website does not wish us to talk about certain topics in here. We might not agree, but it is his choice and we have to respect that.
Ricard 2,675 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. And your point is?
Ricard 2,675 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 As much as some of us have no problems engaging in discussions about politics and religion, in fact a lot of us love to do it.I can see you weren't here during the time in which we DID allow such topics.
Morn 8 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Those were good times, weren't they? Btw this has been discusted on FSM off topics board recently.
Justin 2 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. That is a law of the United States. Our both of the Webmasters (Ricard, Andreas) aren't from the U.S. I hardly think we are moving to a totalitarianistic dictatorship. Ricard set a few very simple rules for us to follow. This is his website, I see no reason why not to.Justin -Done sucking up. LOL
tpigeon 3 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 I can only imagine why such things aren't allowed to be discussed. Just think about how riled up people have gotten over a simple question of what movies or movie scores we like. All hell would break loose if religion or politics were discussed, if things as simple as movies can tear people apart here so easily.Ted
Elmo Lewis 7 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Btw this has been discusted on FSM off topics board recently.Seeing the French/Liberty Fries thread on that board makes me thankful Ricard locked the one here. I'd rather have different friends around me than a bunch of different political opinions around me.
Morn 8 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Which is I think the whole point in having an other topics forum, to seperate hard debates from a friendly atmosphere.
tpigeon 3 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Which is I think the whole point in having an other topics forum, to seperate hard debates from a friendly atmosphere.I don't think it would work. There's ingredients for disaster there.
Guest Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 I just want to say that I did not start this thread, because I'm sure most of you think I did. I think that most of you are getting too upset over nothing. Whether you agree with the action taken or not is your opinion. I expressed no opinion, I merely presented fact, a fact which I found to be humorous. Unfortunately, very few people here found it so, and that baffles me, esp. since my conservative and liberal friends found it humorous, as did my french friends. Your favorite music theorist (mumbles something about dips and kisses and onion soups...)
ocelot 565 Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Ricard, Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean anything by that comment. I do love to discuss politics and religion, I do it on a daily basis with my friends in LA, London, and the Middle East. My first big project I am working on as Producer and Composer is about Palestinian and Israeli children. All I was saying is that it is not something I would do here as it is your website and I respect that. And besides, I have been here for years, I have seen it here and I have seen some of the results.....
Ren 77 Posted March 14, 2003 Posted March 14, 2003 I'm glad we can't discuss this, this isn't the place.
