Addicted collector of good film music in all styles and across all eras from Saint-Saens’ L’Assassinat du Duc De Guise through to Johansson’s The Mercy and everything in between. But mostly Williams and Goldsmith, with about a hundred of each.

My position in the great Zimmer polarization is annoyingly neutral: some of his works I really like (Crimson Tide, Rango, Interstellar), others I really can’t see the appeal of (Dark Knight, Man of Steel, Dunkirk etc.) and plenty of others I think are ... fine. I think fears that film music is going to the dogs are unfounded – we are simply in an era where the traditional (post-)Romantic thematic orchestral style has to share the stage with two other styles: the Remote Control big noise style and the minimalist atmospheric noodling style. Fashions come and go; it's nothing to fear.
