My haul from La-La Land sale came in yesterday and the first one I've been listening to all day is John Morris' great comedic score for Clue.
Really fun soundtrack to a (in my opinion) classic movie!

Gotta nitpick: technically, this is an epilogue piece, playing over the final scenes of the movie, not an end credits suite (once the credits begin to roll as the camera pulls away from the isolated house, it switches to the actual end credits piece). Aside from that, however, I'm in complete agreement. This is one of the most sublime pieces Williams ever composed, and it's one of my favorites as well.
I re-watched Minority Report for the 1st time in at least 10 years the other night and you're totally right, it starts with Sean's Theme before going into, if memory serves, the Spiders music, and then it gets to 'A New Beginning'. I wish the actual full end credits piece was on the soundtrack (I always do) as it's a nice, quick summary of the great themes in the score.
Also, the movie totally holds up. What a gripping, fascinating, emotional story. Top 5 Spielberg for me.

I need to be able to really dig into the movie once it's out on blu-ray to know whether I want an expanded release or not. It always takes seeing a Star Wars movie a lot for me to start resenting not having specific cues available to listen to separate from the movie itself.

I wonder what broke their fruitful big blockbuster orchestral score relationship.
Because Wanker and Kloser don't cut it Roland! They really don't!
I quite like the main theme of The Day After Tomorrow. It's not amazing but it's a nice melody.

The first two were dumb, but in a more intelligent way!
Obligatory "you can't possibly assume anything about the movie based on a trailer" comment inserted here.

Yes! That lovely music with the gentle ocean sound effects in the background. What a perfect ending to a perfect movie.
I got to see Jaws in a movie theater for the 1st time last year for its 40th anniversary and my goodness that movie and its score was meant to be seen LOUD and with an audience.

I've listened to this soundtrack 3 times and, sadly, it is a major disappointment. It pains me to say that as a great fan of Giacchino's work and especially coming out of 2015 which was his strongest year ever in my opinion. Don't get me wrong there are some very fun tracks here with great orchestrations but the themes are just weak and it can feel like a slog sometimes to listen to.
I'm still really looking forward to Star Trek Beyond however!

I love how Presumed Innocent's gorgeous title theme bookends the film, matching the symmetry of the opening and closing shots, with Williams subtly amplifying the reprise with a judicious array of accents and flourishes.
I did not even know that Williams scored this movie. I need to seek this out. -
A.I. is a score I really admire, but almost never find myself reaching for to listen. I need to revisit it soon.

I didn't insult you and I'm sorry if I offended you. I'm very passionate about the culture I love and equally passionate when I think harmful culture is getting unjustly elevated. I can get carried away sometimes!

Oh, did you not like that film?
Christ.
Think of the filmmaker whose movies you despise below all others, movies you honestly hate. Now imagine everyone showering them with adulation. It's maddening!

Spotlight is seriously an understated masterpiece.

Yes! I loved Spotlight. Great, great movie. So happy it won.

Pretending Leo's win is for all of his performances I actually loved. Django, Aviator, Wolf, Shutter Island, etc.

In the words of the great film critic Scott Tobias, "Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is a pretentious fraud."

A hack can win Best Director two years in a row. Meaningless awards yay!
-
Gross. The Revenant was by far my least favorite movie nominated in the major categories.
-
As much I liked Room, I want Saoirse Ronan to win Best Actress. Brooklyn was a wonderful film and Ronan is just electric. An instant movie star in my estimation.
-
Oh gross. One of the worst Bond songs ever.

Nimoy, Bowie, Horner. Great men I am so sad we lost.

I really liked the movie adaptation of The Witches from Nicolas Roeg when I was a kid but I haven't seen it in 20 years probably. I am deeply in love with Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox though, seen it 15 times probably. It's my favorite type of literary adaptation, when an author with a strong style meets a filmmaker with a strong style and they mesh perfectly.
