JoeinAR 1,949
I purchased a dvd the other day.Its a film from the early 80's, from a respected director.the title begins with an E.there is an X in the title as well.its about a boy and his friendship with a rather odd being. It really goes without saying that it features some really terrific music.Anyone care to take a guess?Joe. The 1981 John Boorman film about a boy who meets a wizard, and becomes the king of legends.Great film, love it to death, Trevor Jones' score is marvelous.Joe, ever curious about where Neil got the 3 disc collectors edition for such little money. AHerrera83 0
How's that Excalibur DVD, Joe? Does it have any interesting features/extras? I own the Laserdisc, but wouldn't mind getting such a fabulous film on DVD as well, if it's worth it.
JoeinAR 1,949
Limited features, trailers, and a commentary by the director. He really admires this picture and he is entusiastic in his commentary unlike alot of people who see it as a chore. Good transfer and adequate sound.Unlike Neil, who as we all know I rarely disagree with, I find this film exciting and visually engaging. Reminds me heavely of STAR WARS.Joe

AHerrera83 0
Thanks for the info, Joe. I guess I'll wait a bit, since there are so many new releases right now, but you're absolutely right, this is a fantastic film and a must have in any sci-fi/fantasy fan's collection. It's also fun seeing Captain Picard as King Arthur's father in law.
