TownerFan 4,991
Check out the calendar of Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra 2009/2010 Season.Lots of great music planned, including works by Williams, Goldsmith, Rosenman and David Newman. Williams will also be Guest Conductor in October for a series of concerts called "Music for the City of Angels" (programme still unknown).
scissorhands 16
This is the best season of any orchestra I've ever seen.Premiere of a new Adams symphony, JW concert, Goldsmith's concert work, David Newman's world premiere, Adams conducting a big suite of Rebel Without a Cause (he's the only conductor in the world to pay such a tribute to the late great Rosenman), Kraft's percussion concerto, premieres by Unsuk Chin and Stephen Hartke, Estevez's Cantata Criolla, Thomas Ades concert, Golijov's Pasión...I WISH I LIVED IN L.A.I hope they broadcast the concerts at least (they used to... last year, but not this year, for some reason). TownerFan 4,991
I'm now guessing about the Williams' concerts: will he present a new concert piece? Could it be that "Music from the City of Angels"? Or will it be an LA-themed film music concert?

TownerFan 4,991
The press release reveals a bit more about the JW concert:October 16 – 18, 2009 John Williams, conductor Music from the City of Angels In celebration of film music - one of L.A's greatest contributions to the music world - the leading cinematic composer of our time curates and conducts a program of "old and new Hollywood," including works by such masters as Herrmann, Korngold, Previn, Rosenman, Waxman and, of course, Williams himself.Nice.
