Sharkissimo 1,973
G-Pilg's recent most mentioning the influence of Toru Takemitsu on the SW scores piqued my interest. I always saw an influence in IMAGES and parts of THE POSIEDEON ADVENTURE, but not SW. With THE FORCE AWAKENS being released later this year, this will be a thread to document and speculate on the origins of the more avant-garde side of the scores. Don't just list composers, link to pieces. 5:42-6:16 and 8:06-
Dixon Hill 4,234
I've often obsessed over this little moment. It's a bit Messiaen/Takemitsu-esque with that ondes martenot like synth.1:40 - 2:00 Sharkissimo
A24 4,333
Never heard Toru Takemitsu in Star Wars but it's apparent in some of his concert work.

Also reminds me of these:
RedBard 71
I don't know why, but that CEOT3K cue reminds me of Adventures Through Inner Space.Maybe it's the vibraphone motor and semi-tonal string clusters.
Sharkissimo 1,973
I always saw FANTASTIC VOYAGE as the biggest influence on that ride, including the music..
Jilal 569
A bit of an off-topic statement, perhaps, but I think The Emperor's Throne Room is one of the most spine-tingling cues in film music history, especially the part The Grey Pilgrim referred to. Williams really succeeded in capturing the emperor's evil, there. Sharkissimo
