As American record nerds know, albums currently come out in the U.S. on Tuesdays, but drop in Europe a day earlier on Monday. (Dates in other regions can vary dramatically as well.) Now, in a decision made by the somewhat mysterious-sounding International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry, all records everywhere around the world will come out on Fridays.

I liked New Music Tuesdays. Fridays already have their own things - the start of the weekend, and when new films open. Why do they get new music now too?

I like the idea of having the same drop-date world-wide, but that day should have been Monday or Tuesday, not Friday.

I never noticed albums always came out on Mondays, so I guess I don't care at all about the day changing.

I don't care at all. I order all my CD's online, however, but I don't think I'd care if I'd go to a record store to buy them either.

Mainly, it's (in my timezone) Tuesday between 12:00am and 2:00 am when Intrada do their announcements. ;)
