  1. I can only chime in with the praise, an amazing release for an amazing soundtrack . It can not be overstated how much I love this soundtrack, so ordered instantly - naturally.
  2. I don’t think this is entirely correct. Disney will continue to publish Indiana Jones soundtracks as long as there is interest. Be it limited runs or not. Theres obviously profit to be made from niche groups - otherwise speciality labels wouldn’t exist. But the timing and circumstances has to be correct. First when there is no more profit to be gained from Disney re-publishing and re-packaging “the same old content” will they let a speciality label give it a try. But would be the last push. No need to do that if the public keeps buying whatever Disney publishes. It’s not about dwindling resources - it’s about margin of return. And by keeping it in-house there’s no need to spend that margin on remastering (in house or at third party), when it’s obviously cheaper to bundle existing content and just design a new box. From an economic perspective, it’s good business to maximize profit from what you own without spending money on “redoing” it if it’s all ready “good enough” (from the general consumer’s point of view).
  3. Ellie is great! I saw her live in 2016. It’s been fun watch her evolve and grow musically. Check out the non-album track “Mirrors”, which is from the Halcyon-era, and is really cool. Another good non-album track is Hollow Crown, worth checking out.
  4. Complete or not complete, still good news I think. The track listing is clearly visible on the pics on the link. Too bad it’s missing the “Interviews And More Music From Indiana Jones” CD from the 2008 box set.
  5. Thanks! That looks fun. I thought Dream Away was confirmed to be the Frank Sinatra version?
  6. Here’s the link to discogs: www.discogs.com/master/624243-André-Previn-André-Previn-Plays-Music-Of-The-Young-Hollywood-Composers
  7. One of my top JW themes. I hope JW does an arrangement for Anne-Sophie Mutter as it would be nice to have other takes on this one.
  8. Nothing in particular that isn’t already posted here in the thread. Just a friendly reminder that it is unlawful to collect tax twice, and since I am paying tax in my country, Disney should remove theirs. Good luck!
  9. No, there’s this other guy as well who keeps having bad luck with timing the random “back in stock” windows.
  10. I don’t think it’s weak at all. I love Bladerunner. But it’s also a movie that is quite hard to sit through for the “general” public - no matter which cut is on the screen. It’s slow and it’s dark and it’s weird. It doesn’t over explain anything except the most basic plot elements and character motivations. It’s a movie that showcases world building at its best: a whole other world in the viewer’s peripheral, implied by casual remarks by its inhabitants and by implicit stage design. It’s not “fast food cinema”. A movie is the sum of all its parts. I don’t think the soundtrack saved Bladerunner, but maybe it did save it from obscurity.
  11. Bladerunner comes to mind… “Saved” might be a stretch but I doubt it would be as iconic without Vangelis’ score.
  12. Reptile (2023) IMDb A good movie. It’s a who-dunnit but the plot is a little bit too thin to keep you guessing, but the atmosphere is A+. I wouldn’t mind if Netflix turned this into a franchise as Benicio Del Toro is great in his role of Tom Nichols, a worn-out-not-all-clean-but-good-hearted detective. I’d gladly watch more of him reprising his role. The movie would do better without Justin Timberlake though. Why the director chose to cast him is beyond me. He’s a terrible actor and comes with connotations that doesn’t help the movie. I once had a conversation with a friend about Timberland’s acting where he asked “Can bad actors ruin a good movie?” Before I could answer he grabbed my arm and looked me in the eye, and a pleading word came out if his mouth as he answered his own question. “Yes”. None the less, I can recommend to watch this movie.
  13. Didn’t MM already state, years ago, that Sugarland Express was already in the can - but the release was a no go from JW?
  14. I live in Europe. The last couple of posts in this thread has been about using the iso as a substitute/compliment to the CD. I’m just continuing the conversation with my fellow JWFaners. Also - it is clear the two topics overlap. Why is that a problem talking about two similar releases - and ones intention of procuring or not procuring - in both threads?
  15. Never mind - I just browsed the thread for the isolated score (sorry, I’m late), but the iso isn’t on the 4K, not on the BD. I mean, it’s right there in the title of the thread but I didn’t think it would be so literal! I only see myself ever owning this movie on disc if it is included in a Indy-4K box set and I choose to upgrade from my current Indy-BD box. All though not unheard of, I guess it unlikely that a 4K box will contain BDs as well (the Hitchcock-4K box did), and if a new 4K box for Indy doesn’t - I am for sure not picking up the movie separately on BD as well. Sorry, JW! I would love to own the music and an iso for a film is a nice feature and all but that’s just not how I consume music. I’ll have to stick to my Disney CD until an expansion comes along. If it ever arrives that is!
  16. I honestly had no plans of picking up a 4K or a BD of Disl Of Destiny - I thought the movie was really bad - but the “iso” at least gives the disc reason to exist. If I ever pick up a 4K box set of the Indy-movies I no longer have any plans of chucking the fifth disc out the window.
  17. Maybe this question is better asked in the John Williams in Vienna thread?
  18. Why is it so offensive, this rather “fun” and “playful” photo of JW with C-3PO? It’s just a random photo, on a random page, part of a collage visualizing some of the movies he’s worked on. It’s not like it’s on the cover of the box. Edit: Why didn’t they include a new photo? I’ve seen this photo before.
  19. Ya, well, it might be a bit of an exaggeration on my part to say that I’d buy it even if I already owned all of the contents - I just got so pumped by how beautiful and comprehensive the set is. That said, I’d not be adverse to double dipping if the new release presents one of my favorite artists in a lavish box set, and at the same time makes it easier for me to listen to tracks that would otherwise be spread out over more discs (for example a super deluxe anniversary edition of a pop album singles box set). Does that make sense?
