  1. Stefancos, My point is that the Williams Superman theme is ingrained into the minds of filmgoers and fans of the Superman franchise. Can any of the themes from those Dracula movies you mentioned fall into the same category as the Superman theme? No chance. I stand by my comparison with the James Bond theme. I understand your point that the "same" people made the movies. My point, though, is the theme is attached to the character and is ingrained into the minds of filmgoers and franchise fans, just as I said the Superman theme is. -M-
  2. Last I knew, Kathleen Kennedy was attached to direct? Is this still true? -M-
  3. Well, I meant someone other than Williams, since I assume he'll have other films at the time. David Arnold is a very intriguing suggestion. We haven't heard something from him with a "big-ass orchestra and choir" in a while. He needs the chance to write something like that again, ala Indepedence Day. -M-
  4. I don't know what you think doesn't make sense. It makes sense to me. The theme was created for the character, not a specific movie, correct? So what you're saying is the theme shouldn't be used because it was for a particular movie? That's like saying the James Bond theme is the Dr. No theme and all subsequent Bond films should have a new theme. The Bond theme is for the character, not a particular movie, and that's the way I view the Superman theme. People understand that theme to be attached to the character of Superman. Sure, they may have recollections of the movie in which they heard the theme, but the theme still belongs to the character. -M-
  5. Temple of Doom, even though I was highly interested in voting for Stepmom. LOL -M-
  6. If Jurassic Park 4 does ever get made, who do you think should provide the musical score? -M-
  7. I heard E.T. has a cameo in this new film. -M-
  8. I'm sorry, I don't know what Art of Noise is. Is it something I need to know? What are your opinions on the music, Alex? Do you think it fits? -M-
  9. I think this is a great idea. I've been wondering if the theme was going to be used for a while now. It's too illogical to have Superman flying around with a new theme, because inevitably, the new them would be compared to Williams's theme, and chances are we know which one would be flying higher. I don't know much about John Ottman and his scores, but after not expecting much from Yared and then hearing Troy, and not expecting much from Shearmur and hearing Sky Captain, I'm excited to hear if Ottman can impress me as the other two I noted did. -M-
  10. What was wrong with the score? -M-
  11. Here's my first impression: I started off thinking was I listening to the correct cue? What's with all the ethereal synth? The violin work minus the background "mud" might actually fit the film. Just what kind of film is this if this is the music that fits it? It sounds like this music was from some crappy 80s movie, not an historical epic. Is it too early to mark this up as another missed epic-score opportunity this year? -M-
  12. How was the Zimmer score? -M-
  13. I voted Yared. As Chris said, Yared needs the chance to show what he's capable of. M
