Good point. Hadn't thought of that (though, when I saw the scene with Kylo, Rey and the blaster, I assumed Ren stepped back more as a reflex than actual pain. But yeah, I guess it makes sense). Yeah, it was weird. On some shot, it looked CG, on others, it looked like a puppet. Maybe a puppet with CG enhancements?

Oh, yeah, I'm not denying that. But that doesn't suddenly make the scene any less worse. I thought people didn't like ROTJ and the Prequels in big part because there was an emphasis on creating specific characters/spaceships/etc. only to sell toys, right? Well, that scene felt very reminiscent of that to me. Edgy? How so? Thinking a scene was awful makes someone edgy? OK...

There was no in-story reason for its use, so yeah, it was odd (but hey, Williams was never as rigorous as Shore when it comes to the application of his themes, so I don't think people will care very much here).
