  1. Inspired by Bloodboal's thread, I thought there would maybe be some interest to put pure score to scenes, and take out all the dialogue, and sound effects to enjoy the music fully?

I started a project way back ago, but I could not get all the edits exact, but it is still enjoyable to watch ;)

Here are a few I did ages ago for fun:

Test Drive from How to Train Your Dragon

The Might of Rome from Gladiator

    War from Avatar

  2. More...

Beorn the bear chases the dwarfs to his home. Once inside Gandalf explains that they just locked themselves in from the master of the house. That they should wait until he's in "human" form as you can't reason with the bear. Bilbo wakes up to a giant bee on his face (laughs from audience) and head to the table where Beorn is pouring ale into the mugs of the dwarves. Gandalf is doing most of the talking. Then decides to help because "I hate dwarves, but I hate orcs even more." He protects them on their way to Mirkwood.

Well he's tall, and has very tall eyebrows. Kind of has a dirty, rough appearance. Not overly muscled, but looks strong. You first see the bear off in the distance in the moon light. At first I thought it was Azog's white wolf thing. But then, ugh, he's was much bigger. Ugh, the voice is a detail I can't remember. It was at the very beginning of a three hour movie. It didn't bother me, nor was I truly menaced. I was paying attention to wether or not he was friend or foe. That was the suspense. Hell Gandalf was afraid of him.

Is the confrontation between Gandalf and the Necromancer the last scene we see both of them? Its near the end of the movie or not?

Yes for Necromancer/??? and no for Gandalf. He's later seen chillin comfortably high up in a cage as an army of orcs marches underneath him

One more thing. Peter Jackson cameo is literally the first person we see in the film

    Edit: Moar.

Does Bolg look anything like Azog?

And What role does that orc army play?
and how does bolg come into the film?

    1. Not really except he is slightly smaller than Azog, but bigger than the average orc.

    2. Sauron wants his army. It shows that evil is rising.
    3. Azog is summoned to Dol Gadur (whatever it's called) and instructed by the Necromancer to stay. He summons Bolg to continue his quest to kill the dwarves as he cannot.

Galadriel appears once as a vision to Gandalf and summons him away from Mirkwood. Gimli is mentioned as one of the sons to the dwalves in a funny scene. Has to do with a locket with pictures.

    This one is interesting...

First he's just black smoke. Then fire within the smoke that looks like a certain someone. Then the Necromancer reveals himself. Poor Gandalf, didn't stand a chance.

Bolg is present. Azog is summoned right before Mirkwood.

He's a talking, floating black cloud first. Then you see a tall threatening figure engulfed in flames until it forms the eye.

The guy also posted a photo of his ticket as a proof - http://imgur.com/fGvCVVp

  3. This comes from someone who have seen the film, but it might not be true. Warning, spoilers!

    Climax:

There's a way overlong and unnecessary fight inside the mountain with Smaug and the dwarves, which ends with them spilling molten gold on Smaug and him flying off to Laketown, where it cuts to black. Seriously

    Dol Guldur:

Gandalf goes there with Radagast who he later sends away. Gandalf then gets ambushed by Azog and his orcs. Then the Necromancer appears as a black fog which turns into Sauron's eye and his power pins Gandalf to a wall. The last we see of him, he's in a cage. This kinda doesn't make sense because in LOTR Gandalf acts so surprised about Sauron's return

I'd give it a 7.5 Slightly better than the first Hobbit, doesn't touch LOTR.

There's a brief flashback between Gandalf and Thorin where they talk about Thrain wandering in the woods.

Bolg doesn't come across as much more than a henchman of Azog. He takes over the hunt when Azog gets summoned back to the Necromancer. He and Legolas have a fight at the end.

Beorn protects the dwarves from Azog's hunting party until they get to Mirkwood. He briefly mentions "something evil" in Mirkwood.

  4. Shore might turn up on the red carpet in ~4 hours at the world premiere.

Apparently it says "Watch red carpet coverage with Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom, Stephen Fry, Dean O'Gorman, Aidan Turner, William Kircher, Manu Bennett, John Bell, Ryan Gage, composer Howard Shore, writer/producers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and writer/producer/director Peter Jackson." under the clip, thanks to Once who noticed it.

No Shore interview, but you can see him with Peter and the crew taking a picture at the end.

Omg, I thought you were right, but I jumped in that clip and there is A SHORE INTERVIEW!

    It starts at 48.31

    &feature=share&t=48m31s

    Not long though :P

  5. Shore might turn up on the red carpet in ~4 hours at the world premiere.

  6. Live event coming up in 4 hours 13 min -

Premiere live! Sadly, by then, i'm in bed.

    It says:

"Watch red carpet coverage with Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom, Stephen Fry, Dean O'Gorman, Aidan Turner, William Kircher, Manu Bennett, John Bell, Ryan Gage, composer Howard Shore, writer/producers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and writer/producer/director Peter Jackson."

Wow, didn't read that. Imagine if Shore was there and talked about the score :o

  7. What do you think happens between 4.55 and 6.15 in 'The Hunters'?

    Does someone die?

Is that the hummed version of the Durin theme? That was my first thought when I heard it, but I have no idea.

Yep! I can't remember Smaug killing any dwarf or anyone in the book (of the characters we get to know), but again it was takes ago since I read it, so I do not remember much. It sounds to me like someone dies in that cue, to me a dwarf but Tauriel could be a possibility as well? I'm just guessing. I'm curious what you guys think happens.

  8. Will a dwarf die in this film? If so, who do you think will die? I have only thread The Hobbit once so I can't remember everything, but I can't remember any of the dwarfes getting killed by Smaug.

Btw, will we see Saruman in TABA? Sorry it was many years ago since I read the book, will give it a re-read before TABA though!
