  1. What defines best cue? Isn't it about how well it fits the film? The cues that made you sh*t in your pants when you were seeing a great scene of a movie? If that's the case, then there are 2 that are clearly heads above the rest: 1) Journey to the Island JP 2) Escape, Chase, Saying Goodbye ET BTW I'm shocked at how many of you agree about how awesome the Asteroid Field is!! And I know that I broke the rules, I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I'll post my five later. EDIT: HERE ARE MY FIVE, IN ORDER 1) Journey to the Island (JP OST) 2) Escape, Chase, Saying Goodbye (E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: 20th Anniversary) 3) Ben's Death - TIE Fighter Attack (ANH 4 disc 1993 release) 4) The Asteroid Field (ESB 4 disc 1993 release) 5) Carbon Freeze - Luke Pursues The Capitives - Depature Of Boba Fett (ESB 4 disc 1993 release)
  2. Wow that's interesting, I always think of BTTF as Spielberg.
  3. Anyone know why Williams wasn't called on to do that score?
  4. That's a great point and I'm eating my words as I type this. Damn people in this forum are so smartie!
  5. I don't want to jump the gun but if you haven't read THE DA VINCI CODE and you don't know what it's about then you're in for a shock when that sucker comes out!
  6. Jeshopk!!!! That's unbelievable!!!! That sounds incredible!! Not only did it give me chills, it nearly drove me to tears here at work, I cannot emphasize how awesome that is, that totally made my day!
  7. Hey, I thought that whole scene was perfect. That rendition of the Force Theme directly afterward gave me chills too--though you're right it was drowned out a bit.
  8. Thanks! BTW I remember when I saw ROTS opening night, hearing those drums, going, WHAT?!! It was such a far fetched non-traditional intro, but I love it! Less is more sometimes, you know. Dun, dun....Dun, dun....
  9. Let me get this right… the percussion intro to Revenge of the Sith (the beginning opening battle scene) is not Williams? It is in fact the sound guys effects? I find that hard to believe--anyone know how this came about? Did Williams originally have something different there? Anyone know?
  10. I am new here and I'm not sure if there's already been a thread here about this topic. So, at the risk of sounding both offensive and naïve, I'll just go ahead and ask: Do you guys/girls feel self-conscious because you listen to John Williams? I mean, it is definitely at least a little bit nerdy. When people ask me what I listen to, I'll say "metal and movie scores, particularly John Williams." When they ask why the movie scores, I feel all uncomfortable and nerdish. If any of you feel like this, what do you do to get around it? It doesn't help that on how many accounts I've heard musicians and instructors criticize John Williams saying he is a talented writer but a poor conductor. I dunno, I've just had this buried in my mind ever since I bought the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack back in like 1987. Sorry if I offended anyone.
  11. The Lost World for me--I was really shocked with all the percussion at first. After a while it really grew on me though.
