  1. I do agree that the new themes should've been utilized more, but as is the case with Home Alone 2, I feel like even the material basically lifted note for note from PS just sounds fresh somehow in COS. I was shocked by how much I was okay with all of it. But I agree again, the third act of this score is just outstanding! Looking forward to your thoughts on Azkaban! Crank it up!
  2. I relate to this so much. Check it out, this is the current state of my original Chamber of Secrets album from 2002 (before I took proper care of things):
  3. Alright. Never ask a music editor this kind of stuff XD @crumbs and @King Mark Ask and ye shall receive EDITED FOR CONCISENESS: I lined them up basically perfectly and I wasn't getting any phasing. Upon further inspection though. I'd say it's the same recording. However, it is a different mix. The waveform ended up being suspiciously different. As in, the channels on the HP3 "Trailer" track seemed perfectly inverted and the left and right channels were swapped. Once I reversed all that, the waves matched much closer, but there are certain areas where certain instruments are louder. So, I'd wager it's the same recording, but a new mix for the trailer. In fact, getting them perfectly in sync reveals where the new mix changes were made. Phasing in certain areas and not in others. See audio below Here's a visual representation of the two: As you can see. There are areas (once HP3 Trailer is restored to resemble the correct stereo configuration) where the waveforms are identical. However, there are areas where the mix has clearly changed and then of course at the end the Trailer cue was edited for time. Audibly, you can really hear it. Note how at 0:10 You can hear a sharp cut in the phasing, then we are in the new mix, however around 0:33 it switches back to the original mix. And finally, for good measure. Here are the stereo Spectral Frequency Displays for each overlayed on top of each other. I inverted the colors of the HP3 Trailer track and lowered the opacity by 50%. This way, anything that is basically identical will be cancelled out. As we see, most of the track is "cancelled out". The only distinctions are the gong / cymbal overlay near the beginning and the ending that is off due to the edit: SO. In conclusion, HP3's "Trailer" is just a remixed version of "Reunion of Friends" from HP2. It is not a new recording.
  4. Working on my edit just now. Holy DAMN "The Portrait Gallery" is butchered in the film. HARD. Like wow. EDIT: The Portrait Gallery / Big Doors / Great Ceiling. It's all chopped to bits. Wow. There's tracking, major speed changing, cuts, and loops all in this one little section. It's got everything!
  5. I’d imagine it’s CoS, but I haven’t gotten to comparing them yet.
  6. Maybe you could start it some time just after 2:56 (I'm referring to 2:56 in the track titled "Saving Buckbeak (Alternate Segment)"). Seems like a decent place to divide it You'd have to fade it up depending on where you started it. Or maybe around the 3:00 mark with the chimes flourish?
  7. Are you referring to the different bat ending?
  8. I'm still bummed I missed the JP set. They go for like at least $150 on ebay now.
  9. Definitely scratches, but you know what @King Mark, thanks for still being pretty chill about it anyways towards everyone here. I know it's frustrating though. I was a little disappointed when the jewel case for my copy of Twister arrived a bit busted up, much easier to replace though. I can only imagine the disappointment caused by a disc in that state. I remember once lending someone one of my favorite blu-rays and getting it back looking very very similar to this:
  10. Sigh. Sorry @Jay I tried. Look, if someone were to do that, I would imagine they would also be the type of person to check the discs right away or at least on one of the few plays. If they do extremely care that the condition remain pristine.
  11. Ha! It's custom. I'll just rip out the disc drive and get another one if the issue persists. 😉
  12. I actually did have some issues ripping, but it was nothing to do with my discs. My computer's disc drive just went insane momentarily. Every time I inserted a disc it would pop-up and ask me to insert a disc, reopening the tray as if there was nothing there. I just had to shut the disc tray again without closing the message and then it was fine. Computers can be silly.
  13. I won't debate wether you were actually uncivil or not, but I will go ahead and directly quote Jay: So no, Jay is not a spokesman for LLL here or anywhere. If you have issues with the quality of the set, actually send LLL a message as King Mark has done and I'd imagine they will be sure to deal with it with the utmost care and respect. And considering no one from LLL has talked to you directly about this I'd say there's no issue of customer care. Jay saying I'm sure it'll rip fine is no different than if I had said that to you.
  14. I think it's much better than Season 1. There's some REALLY good moments in Season 2. I had issues with Season 1. I still liked it and enjoyed it, but I feel like the first three books were just far too short to work in two 45-minute episodes each. I will admit they made Reptile Room even better than the book I think. Plus, unlike a LOT of Snicket fans I absolutely adored the movie and found it difficult to not think about how much better I thought the movie did certain things during the first 6 episode, including the score. Thomas Newman's score for the film is wonderful. Anyways, I think the show really started to find it's footing in the last 2 episodes of Season 1. Luckily, this means that Season 2 is basically very well-paced the whole time. In short, I recommend it!
  15. Come to think of it I don't think I've even checked mine. I wanted to rip it before anything else (aka before I ware the hell out of the discs)
  16. Hey man. Chill out. LLL will send a replacement and it will all be fine. I realize that many have waiting a long while and it's an expensive purchase, and this is a very unfortunate result, but what's done is done. We could at least be civil about it.
  17. That's right! I remember now. Thanks for sharing that again Holko! Great work.
  18. For some reason that makes sense to me. Especially with the CoS film being the longest one. I guess I could see that. Also cool! I didn't see that. Must've missed it. I'll look for it and take a listen!
  19. Just listened to it again. Yeah it's a little weird this way, but look at the bright side. It could have been included crossfaded into something and no one could make the film version out of it, but if you have the chops. Just blend "The Stone" into it and you're good to go. I appreciate Mike allowing us the ability to make these choices...although I'm sure that wasn't his end goal. lol. His end goal seems to be of course to just present everything in the least repetitive way (So, no tracking) while preserving Williams' intentions. This just so happens to mean that we have clean openings and closings for almost everything. Besides having "The Stone" tracked in, I think this is the ideal way to include it.
  20. It's definitely cool to hear that again as it was intended!
  21. Unfortunately it actually only appears for like 2 or 3 seconds in the actual film. I believe they dialed out most of the appearance that we have on the LLL set. Does Nimbus 2000 count as something that made it in all three? I'm pretty sure it is.
