NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE John Carpenter's music!!!!! (doesn't he improvise in a keyboard while watching the film, and recording at the same time?)

And his Amazing Stories episodes? (BOO! and THE GREIBBLE) scissorhands - reading the booklet of the Amazing Stories CD

I have only seen the Gremlins bilogy and Small Soldier. And I can't make any decision:

Zimmer has never done a great work by himself. He has done good works though. He actually admits having composed VERY BAD scores (to justify his other works, I think LOL )

I don't think so. I think he will write a theme such as Sleepers, Nixon or Minority Report...... I think it will be a hybrid score (drama/action), but with more action than drama.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence, of course. You wrote: "A.I. because Williams make something really strange with his music in that one". I don't think that's the reason. He should have won the Oscar because it was the best score. It had an incredible emotional development. I think it was like CE3K in its pretentions. And the only strange thing: Mecha World and Moon Rising techno part. The piano/cello/soprano part is much better. And only for this, it deserved an Oscar.

You can't forget these ones (different periods and styles): MAX STEINER ERIC-WOLFGANG KORNGOLD BERNARD HERRMANN LEONARD BERNSTEIN HENRY MANCINI ENNIO MORRICONE JERRY GOLDSMITH MICHAEL NYMAN And I would also try with LALO SCHIFRIN Of course, our maestro WILLIAMS There are more, of course (NORTH, all the NEWMAN family....), and you will have to make a rigurous selection. Good luck with your classes. -
The Best of the London Symphony Orchestra
scissorhands replied to Trumpeteer's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
I personally like the Episode I performance. Well, I would say London Symphony plus London Voices. They made a good work. scissorhands - who thinks people won't vote in this poll for the best performance, but for the best score -

AOTC Soundtrack Mystery: the answer?

Ooooops, I must have forgotten it. Thanks. That music was a distraction for me. It didn't let me see the film comfortably. And this is the reason I didn't like it. -

Again: There is an objectivity basis. A minimum understanding of the quality of a film. Objectively, The Searchers is better than Jaws 3D, for example. But this is my opinion (and is this objective?) -

I have read it "only" three times. And I think the film is a Well, it's not bad, but very overrated. I prefer Ralph Bakshi's version. But this is my preference. Objectively Jackson's film is better. And I think TTT will be even better than FOTR. -
AOTC Soundtrack Mystery: the answer?
scissorhands replied to TownerFan's topic in General Discussion
I think Williams thought that with AOTC could happen the same fact as with TPM: after having recorded the music, Lucas made a new editing. So, in my opinion, he decided not to compose any new music for the last battle ('cause he knew it would be terribly edited) and when the final edition was made, insert the music recorded in 1999, so as not to be re-composing the music again and again. scissorhands - celebrating his post number 100 -

I COMPLETELY agree with you, fivetones, with the exception of Michael Nyman. It's one of my favorite composers. And I prefer Nyman's post-Greenaway period, I think it's better. When he worked for Greenaway, his scores seemed the same, monotone. When he stopped working with him, he begun to explore new musical terrains. And my fav ones are his last scores: Gattaca, The End of Affair and The Claim (wow!, that soprano voice)

And Spartacus, El Cid, North by Northwest,........ They're innumerable.

You SHOULD play Tomb Raider (I recommend: 1 and 2). But now these games are very old. Try with the new one. Only for PS2 and PC. This autumn. -
So you give it a 5. Passed. What I don't like is that the script is simple, based on the same idea. The characters have not evolved since the first film. I hate the mayor: A plane character. He makes the same mistakes. And he doesn't learn the lesson. I prefer this mayor below.

TPM, in fact, is good. I don't care what you say. And AOTC even better. JAWS 2 is a trash, and very predictable. I also spent 24 euros on that DVD only for the documentary. And it's great.
