Not sure if I posted this but I wrote 7 little pieces (a suite) for 2022 World Cup in Doha, this time not for the opening ceremonies but for a pyrotechnics and fireworks show that played every night for a month over the Arbian Gulf. I wanted to share at least one of the little pieces I recorded with the Qatar Philharmonic. Hope you like it. 04 4. War (NBA) Mix PF v4.wav

Hi everybody, I recently had the chance to write the score for a short film called HERO and record it with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The directors wanted a "good old fashioned 80s/90s orchestral score" but apart from that gave me complete creative freedom which is a rare and amazing experience for any composer. You can listen to the result here: Looking forward to your comments! Cheers, Robin http://www.robin-hoffmann.com/

Hey fellow musicians and composers, A while back I did several live recordings with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra. They had just around 25 minutes to record each piece, but pretty much nailed all of them ( for instance the runs in the middle part of "Spaghetti Con Brio" and those in "Kitchen Fiasco" should be extremely hard). Also, feel free to visit my homepage for recording session videos, more info about me etc: http://fredericbernardmusic.com/ I've also decided to put the full orchestral PDF scores up there (for free at this time) - just in case you'd like to study these works! Feedback on the music, or just anything else is always welcome and much appreciated. All the best, Frederic

What would you think if at John Williams' next concert in December, he did a performace of Aaron Copland's Lincoln Portrait with Daniel Day-Lewis as narrator??

I have noticed that many of us are composers of our own original music. This topic is for you. There are currently some recorded VST orchestras on the market to use for creating music. One of them is the East West Orchestra, and they claim to have that 'Hollywood Sound'. This sound, which is in my opinion the current 'Hollywood sound', with an epic aura and modulated instruments (especially brass). Well. The fact is that the current 'Hollywood sound' is not 'JW sound', in my opinion. JW likes to use a more Vienna orchestra with a more european approach. This is due that probably he started creating music for films when the current 'Hollywood sound' wasn't like this one. Do you have any opinion on this? Have you tried the East West orchestra and do you have any opinions? What is better, the current 'Hollywood sound' or the 'JW sound' (in case they are different). In my opinion I prefer the 'JW sound' or a more european approach (perhaps a little older) to orchestral music. I hope you like this topic and most important, have an opinion on it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can compare the EW sounds here http://www.soundsonline.com/Symphonic-Orchestra (look for DEMOS tab) and the JW music you love. Is it the same? Is it better? Is it worse?

Just this month, Hal Leonard Publishing has begun releasing installments in the new Henry Mancini Concert Library Series, analogous to the John Williams Signature Edition Series. Already available are the orchestral scores (and parts, if needed) of the Peter Gunn Theme, The Pink Panther Theme, and March with Mancini. Should prove useful for music directors and score collectors alike.
