tharpdevenport 4
His work for the tv show "CHiPs"I have been told that he composed 120 hours of music for the show.Wonderful sweeping score and great faced paced action/suspence pieces. With a taste of that film score era type music- being a combination of orchastra and electronic. Sort of like a weird version of disco, the best way i know how to descirbe it.With a out of business company haveing success with Knight Rider, and a still in business company that sold ut it's Auirwold 2CD and are planning a set edition, i can only assume CHiPs would be as popular as Knight Rider and Alan Silvestri being very well known, that such a CD release of CHiPs would do well. A limited edition, maybe 3,000 numbered copies. That sound about right? Please tell me your thought son this everyone.
Omen II 1,235
tharpdevenport,Did Alan Silvestri really write the theme music for CHiPS? Damn, I can't get it out of my head now: Nananerna-na, nerna-na! Nanananana, ner-na-na!I used to love that show when I was younger. I remember that it was a while before I started watching it because I used to see it in the TV listings but assumed (as most 4-year-olds would) that it must be a programme devoted to chips (i.e. french fries) and figured that would be pretty boring.Isn't Larry Wilcox a porn star now (not that I'd expect you to know, but it is a serious question)? And what does Erik Estrada do these days? The 70s had so many great TV themes that have never seen the light of day. I'd love to see a CD release of music from Starsky & Hutch, especially Lalo Schifrin's original theme music taken from the pilot episode. It rocks!Damien
tharpdevenport 4
Silvestri did not write the Main/End creditsEric? I assume he does what ever he can, begging and pleeding for money, yelling "I was famous! I was in CHiPs! I was CHiPs! PUNCH!!!"
Lurker 5
I love the first season theme to CHiP's which was the same theme were familiar with, but played in a slower lounge act sort of way. Very cheesy, but lots of fun.Neil
Ren 75
I used to watch chips but I just couldn't get over the cheesiness (a word?) of the show, the outfits, the hair, makes me cringe!
Ollie 1,059
The California Highway Patrol still wears those same uniforms. When my wife and drove out to Los Angeles this past September for our honeymoon we were passed by a CHiP on his motorcycle. I started laughing cause as soon as he passed me the theme song popped into my head.
Omen II 1,235
Silvestri did not write the Main/End creditsYou're right, it was apparently John Parker (same guy that did the theme music for Cannon). I do not remember much about the incidental music but it looks as though Mike Post had a hand in some of the episodes too.And Ren, cheese is fine if you have a cracker of a theme to accompany it!Damien
