Jay 37,372
The 1941 score is almost as good as Williams' masterpieces such as Jaws, Star Wars, CE3K, Superman, The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders, E.T., Return of the Jedi or Temple of Doom. My favorite parts are those that include the motif associated with Nancy Allen's character.Do you mean the "Planes on the Brain" motif? That was the one thing besides the march theme that I noted when I first watched the film. Excellent dreamy music for her obsession. Mike Matessino refers to that theme as Donna's Theme in the liner notes, and it is an easy one to recognize. His notes also point out 4 other themes in the score, in addition to the March (Kelso's Theme) - a patriotic melody, Wally and Betty's Theme, the "Call To Arms" motif, and the ammunition motif. I honestly never noticed how much depth the score had until listening to the complete presentation while reading along with the Mike's excellent liner notes.
