Melange 446
It is possible that Deer Hunter is the only one of his that I know. Yes I did see Thunderbolt and Lightfoot 'back in the day' but remember little of it. The Deer Hunter indeed has some very deep and very affecting scenes it's just a shame that the pacing is somewhat bizzare at times during the movie. I mean, how long was that overly long Wedding Dance scene again? It manages to provide some 'quote' moments, such as this classic........ "On a side note, news came through yesterday that Robin Hardy, the director of the 1973 The Wicker Man, died recently also.
A24 4,351
The Deer Hunter is good but Heaven's Gate is a struggle to watch. Nothing feels right. Year Of The Dragon, with Mickey Rourke at the height of his career, is not great cinema but very entertaining, especially if you love LA Noir movies like me. The Sicilian is a downright turkey. His name is on the poster but did he really direct it? I've heard stories that say he didn't. R.I.P.
