SW: The Wizard of Oz in disguise?

Could it be that Chewbacca is the Lion? Is C3PO the Thin Man? Is Scarecrow replaced by R2D2? Is Dorothy, luke Skywalker? Is the Good Whitch an alternative for Ben Kenobi. Do I need to spell it out who the Wicked Witch in Star Wars is? And just like in the Wizard of Oz everyone gets a medal in the end.

"Looks like we're not on Tatooine anymore..."

Right...seriously, I don't think so. Many similar archetypal characters, but certainly not an intentional retelling of The Wizard of Oz.

No Justin, me neither. Chewbacca is anything but cowardly, now C3P0 is cowardly.

Sure, but shoot the Wizard of Oz characters into space and some sort of Star Wars might sprout from it. I cannot say that for every movie. Think about it. What characters can be shot into space and spontaniously create a Star Wars movie. I cannot find any but the characters of the Wizard of Oz. That's all I meant.

Lords of the Ring? Absolutely not. Star Wars is more a fairy tale.

Harry Potter? You've got to be kidding! Besides, Harry is Space is still Harry.

Y Tu Mama Tamb-oh? I don't know that one, sorry.

Well As carrie fisher says in the SW (A NEW HOPE SE) making off, lucas was influenced by the Wizard of Oz or something. I think there is amive called 'Return to Oz' and Lucas has something to do with it.

I dont think it is based on, but maybe lucas created C3PO out of the lion and the thin man, just as a tribute to one of his favorite movies?

Like the Flash gordon influence and so...

I've heard of the Flash Gordon influence but an official Wizard of Oz influence? Great!

Yes, Dreams is produced by Spielberg, Lucas and Coppola.

Kagemusha is produced by Lucas George and Coppola Francis Ford(who has supported Lucas from the beginning and produced his first film THX 1138).

Remember C3PO taking an oil bath and how good it did him? In the Wizard, the Tin man also enjoys a few drops of oil. Let's see, what else...

Maybe Wizard of Oz influenced his style of film-making as well. I mean, Lucas likes digital and The Wizard of Oz was one of the early big special effects films. It used matt-paintings and so on. Maybe it influences his chooses sometimes.

Who knows

HAN: (to Chewie) Where are you going?

Han aims his pistol at the doorway.

LEIA: No, wait. They'll hear!

Han fires at the doorway. The noise of the blast echoes relentlessly throughout the empty passageway. Luke simply shakes his head in disgust.

HAN: (to Chewie) Come here, you big coward!

Chewie shakes his head no

HAN: Chewie, come here!

So he is a coward after all.

Near the end the Wicked Witch sends of hurds of flying monkeys.

Wicked Witch=Darth

Flying Monkeys=Enemy Fighters

Too easy
