Jay 37,364
There's plenty of Newman fans on JWFan. Have any of you checked out this score yet? Much like Shore's latest, the album is only 20 minutes long! Water Tower music put it on youtube for free It's on Spotify too https://open.spotify.com/album/2ycFTGyjnzu5qB5xNgkOUt?si=9HBxdanrQZmi0r-UIiwVJw And Jon Burlingame wrote an article about it https://variety.com/2020/artisans/awards/thomas-newman-let-them-all-talk-score-1234853120/ WampaRat and Edmilson
WampaRat 1,105
Always enjoy me some Thomas Newman. Hadn’t heard of this. I’ll definitely give it a listen. I still remember my first “buy on faith” was his score to Road To Perdition. It was released before the film was even out. I was a freshman in high school and had just started collecting scores. It remains my favorite Newman work to this day:)
Edmilson 7,456
Meh, I'm a Newman fan, but this album is solely for jazz enthusiasts.
Richard Penna 3,690
Sounds like what a Newman Ocean's score would sound like. The first track was sort of interesting to listen to once. Not for me. Edmilson
WampaRat 1,105
Listening to it now. Haven’t heard this kinda sound from Newman before. Swingin’ elevator jazz music haha. I’m sure he enjoyed doing something outside the usual quiet drama/period drama scores he’s normally asked to do. Reminds me a bit of Powell in bits of his “Rat Race” or “Be Cool” scores. A slightly more toned-down version of this sound might have been cool to hear in his Bond scores IMO.
