  1. The Host (Gwoemul). The critics are wrong. Don't see it. This is not the best monster film since Jaws, not by a long shot! Korean drama is weird. If it's meant to be a satire then the humor is weird too. Some of the monster scenes are impressive though. Alex
  2. Count me in on it too. Some people say, no thanks, I get depressed when I listen to minor mood music. I say, when art manages to squeeze out an emotion, you must consider yourself very happy and you ought to be praising the creator. Alex
  3. Indeed, they weren't even close. Especially the second movie made me want to leave the theater.
  4. I felt Cooper wanted to give his character too much weight. He overdid it and it was distracting. Was he thinking "Oscars"?
  5. How come all Texans have no taste?
  6. Breach: A true story about one of America's biggest spies. And what a disappointment it was! I'm probably Billy Ray's biggest fan and so I expected a hell of a lot more than something that comes across as merely an average TV movie. I guess his previous film Shattered Glass worked so well because it was filmed from the perspective of the "sinner". In Breach we're saddled up with the same old viewpoint of the saint (the fresh, innocent rookie). Tame stuff. BTW, Chris Cooper's make-up in this film is the worst you'll ever see. Harsh Times: No story, only characters hanging around and stuff. And yet, it's been quite a while since a movie has sucked me in like that. Bale's performance is incredible. He's simply one of the best players around these days. Alex
  7. Albums like Star Wars and E.T. sold over a million copies each. Potter shouldn't be far behind. What truly doesn't sell is contemporary orchestral music. Think about that if you want to be a composer.
  8. Oh no, turns out it were all CD-Rs. Now you have to go back into the fire, Mark.

No great stuff in E.T. and Close Encounters? Ooooookay.

Re-selling items without lower 'secondhand' cost rates isnt somewhat illegal? Like the re-sold of tickets? And anyway, since it is Out of print, who are you stealing from? All the copies circulating have already been bought. If you get mp3s it doesnt mean the companies dont get they deserved money. They pressed a number of copies and sold them out. They didnt plan on getting any more money with it... You're missing the bigger picture here. And you're also looking for excuses. All typical trademarks of a "downloader".

Please do not encourage people to "steal" music on a public site.

I agree. Get it, even if it costs $100. You'll lose more money on an evening in a restaurant. Alex
  13. Yes, 5 minutes is way too long. Little Miss Sunshine: Not bad but quite forgettable. I prefer the comedies of Alexander Payne (About Schmidt, Sideways).
  14. Yes, the ending is quite good. However, another real standout is the expression on Welles face when he steps out of the shadow.
  15. The Third Man. Not one of my favorite films but the famous Ferris wheel scene with Welles and Cotton is an absolute standout. It's like all agonist/antagonist confrontations are based on this scene. The cuckoo clock speech is fantastic.
  16. This week I've tried to watch Wilder's The Lost Weekend and The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes but I just couldn't sit through them. The first one is not a good drama and the latter is not a good comedy.
  17. And yes, back then it was probably 16 bit, 44.1khz. There's nothing wrong with that. Only, I've read that the first digital recordings suffered from metallic highs. The violins in E.T. (on the normal version) do sound a bit metallic.
  18. It's a classic, music wise too!
  19. It's called, "The Man With The Mouth Organ". Just kidding, it's "If You Are Somebody, It's My fault".
  20. I think you are confusing digital recording with digital samplers (musical instruments). Digital recording happened with digital reel to reel recorders (tape) which were already available since the early 70s. The first commercial recordings came out by the end of the 70s. In 1982 Donald Fagen released the first fully digital recorded pop album. I guess the landing on the moon is also a lie? Alex
  21. It's a photo of an LP which was released in 1982. Sorry, digital recording goes back to the 70s. The Black Hole (Disney) is one of the first scores recorded digitally. Alex
  22. Yes E.T. soundtrack was digitally recorded but for some reason that escape me, was only release like that in Japan with its fantastic sound , as well as Poltergeist and Outland were Digitally recorded but released on CD as analog recording ... May I ask what is your source of such information? I'm not jerrygollay but let me answer this question in his name.
