I'm absolutely amazed the movie clips STILL haven't turned up online anywhere!

No, I've only heard of a few sheets of the score that someone got his hands on and even that hasn't really showed up, aside from a part of a page of a music called "Tinker-Tin".

Posted

Oh the sheet music is out there for sure, but I haven't heard of any recording sessions leaks at all.

Aha!

That's the one. And then there's nothing...Why? Oh, God, WHY????

:crymore:

Lee - who thought the characters of Avatar blew the gimmick of Davy Jones away whilst being in an all round better movie to boot.

Avatar was a far better film than the second Pirates, obviously. But that really isn't saying much, and I found Davy Jones to be much more convincing than the Na'vi. With Davy Jones, I actually found myself wondering if part of the character was achieved through advanced prosthetics and/or puppetry. With the Na'vi...well, they minimized the uncanny valley effect as best they could, but it still looks like (very, very good) CGI. I can't bring myself to believe that the characters' bodies are real physical objects.

That's a problem of design, mostly.

Sorry guys, no leaked sheet music for Tintin ( or War Horse) can be posted publicly on the board.

So can you as compensation give us small tidbits on the music? Put some spoiler tags on the comments so it won't offend those who do not like to know in advance. ;)

Yeah that video was great fun. :) PJ knows how to keep even the wait for his films fun and has always been quite good humoured and ready to poke fun at his own expense.

Not much music wise there though. Or who knows. ;)

Posted

Sounded like some generic stock accordion library music to me

Posted

So you are saying it's not part of the actual score... That's comforting.

Posted

I'm sure it was just some publicly available music they threw on there 6 years ago when they made the thing

Posted

I wonder if the "heroic" clarinet solo is part of a theme. Like when JW uses the first few notes of the Raiders March.

Daa, daaa, da daa daa daaaa

C'mon, LeBlanc, at least tell us something of the score!*

*Something useful :P

Don't worry guys, if the 2011 recordings are indeed re-writes of existing cues, you'll all get to hear what the original 2010 cues would have sounded like. Trust me :)

Starting from the end of the thread and working backwards, how do you know how the 2010 cues sounded like? Where you lucky enough to get to the recording sessions?

Assorted Other Comments:

Loved the PJ as Haddock video, amusing seeing Snowy drunk and falling in the water. I'd love to see a proper version of it as Snowy's movement seemed a little off.

LoTR def had some dodgy CGI (particularly in the last battle in ROTK) but as others have said the story kept you moving along with it and it didn't yank you out too much.

All ... no most movies have some dodgy CGI/SFX and our pristine / HD world sometimes makes that painfully obvious. Sometimes they are so jarring I can't watch the movie anymore. (the recent Spiderman's for example, I cannot stand his swinging around). The recent Tron on the other hand works really well and it totally felt like I was in another world.

Regarding TinTin itself, I am looking forward to the movie though I am a bit concerned by the CG animation in the trailer but I will leave full judgement till I see it (either at the cinema if I can see it not in 3D, or iTunes rental)

I thought that too. But I'm guessing only has the sheet music, which is rather useless IMO.

It's like going to a restaurant, ordering a Spaghetti Carbonara and being presented with a piece of paper with the recipe of Spaghetti Carbonara.

Sheet music is less useless. Musically trained people can play that sheet music on their favorite instrument, and technically experienced people can program it into their favorite music engraving software, to hear how the music would sound as recorded by the actual orchestra.

You can't do anything to a piece of paper to simulate how that spaghetti carbonara would taste like, unless the chef accidentally spilled some sauce on the page. Yum...

Posted

If the paper has a recipe on it, you can read the recipe and make the food

why are we talking about food in a Tintin thread?

Posted

So have the clips shown at Comic Con turned up anywhere yet?

I said "simulate," not "create." You could take that sheet music and give it to a real symphony to tell how it sounds. How many of us have symphonies burning a hole in our back pocket?

Ask Steef. It's his analogy. For once, I'm not the one to create a dumb one.

Especially if you have no interest what so ever in mock-ups made by fans.

How culturally unenlightened.

Posted

I never called you dumb. I called your analogy dumb.

I will now point out, with the utmost respect, that you can't read.

Posted

Well, I was listening to the Aretha Franklin song while I typed it. I figure that counted.

Besides, it's rather unfair to be really hungry and hear how good that spaghetti is. I can sight read, and would be able to tell if that sheet music sounded more like, oh I don't know, a cross between the Force Theme plus Banning Back Home, or Catch Me If You Can plus Gilderoy Lockhart.

Posted

Jason calls me an asshole, you call me dumb...don't we have rules for this kind of disrespect?

Idiot!

In case anyone's wondering, Wojo's referring to these posts from December 2010 on some forum I've never heard of:

Haven't you just violated your own silly rules by reiterating and boldfacing what I typed? You could have simply let on that I either made it up, am delusional, or both.

Scanned pages from leaked Tintin or War Horse sheet music MAY NOT be posted to the public forums.

Mockups made from leaked Tintin or War Horse sheet music are also NOT ALLOWED to be posted to the public forums until after the films have opened.

Please note that fan-made transcriptions made from any material that can be heard in the Tintin or War Horse trailers/commercials/etc, as well as mockups made from those transcriptions, ARE allowed.

At some point both the Tintin and War Horse OSTs will leak to the internet before the CDs are in stores. I would like to remind everybody about Forum rule #8:

Quote

08 - Discussion of music CDs before they are in stores (ie when they "leak" to the internet) is allowed, as is discussion of leaked recording sessions, sheet music, and other bootlegs. HOWEVER:

a) You may not post a link to, or name of, any site where this material can be illegally downloaded.

b) You may not offer on the public forums to send this material to anybody who PMs you.

c) You may not ask on the public forums for somebody to PM you a link to this material.

In other words: On the public forums, please discuss the music only, and not where to get it. This rule will be strictly enforced.

Posts that break any of these rules will be edited or deleted without warning.

Thanks for the link and at the same time: damn you for the link!

From there I followed the link to Digital Spy to the post about Horowitz tipped to write sequel, then clicked on more info on Peter Jackson and discovered that SS & co are in fact making Jurassic Park 4. Noooooooo.

Returning to topic, there was some name calling going on :)

This board is not hosting that file.

We can't control what goes on on other boards.

Yes, we have a whole thread here discussing Jurassic Park 4!

I asked the guy who filmed the Jackson/Haddock if he had recorded any other clips from the show, and he said that it was prohibited, that he recorded the footage we all saw by mistake.

So, there. The footage will never turn up until the movie is released, I suppose.

Has this been posted here? The cover of the art book?

hjt8b.jpg

I like it

Posted

I wouldn't be surprised! I like it much more than both teaser posters, though the recent standee art that was posted, Tintin and Haddock on a motorcycle, was pretty good too

Posted

In what way?

Posted

I'd prefer that moody version with the Unicorn - just like it's on our main page - but as long as it has Music Composed and Conducted by John Williams on it, I will buy it even if it's made of toilet paper sheets.

Posted

It is kinda weird that its the modern CGI Tintin casting a shadow of the Herge Tintin but I guess that's the point of the book; To show how the art evolved from comic to movie?

So yea, it probably won't be the CD cover, but the current motorcycle image probably will be, unless there's another main poster made between now and October

Posted

I like the concept of that art best, but it looks like a video game. Pics from the film look much better.

I was trying to avoid turning it into a conversation (were all I have to say at the moment is basically No) hence the "returning to topic" :)

That is goddamn awful.

You mean the cover? Agreed, the two styles don't mix well
