Romão 2,473 Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Well, here he is:http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=14285Pretty impressive stuff. The trailer is awesome, but it has been taken off-line by Universal.
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Lets see... ILM Special effects?Yes of course i want to see 'him'
Romão 2,473 Posted January 24, 2003 Author Posted January 24, 2003 You can download the trailer here:http://www.superherohype.com/cgi-bin/news/...043430241,82458,
Lurker 5 Posted January 25, 2003 Posted January 25, 2003 That tank swinging part was pretty cool. Thanks for the links!Neil
Marian Schedenig 11,695 Posted January 25, 2003 Posted January 25, 2003 It's not really my genre, but it's Ang Lee, and with a score by Mychael Danna I think. So I might actually go see it. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Morn 8 Posted January 25, 2003 Posted January 25, 2003 Hmm, the hulk as played by a top aussie comedian.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 How do you spell fakeHULK.M-O-O-N spells fake hulk. The tag line should beYou Will Believe its CGI.
Morn 8 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003  Don't tell me that Superman's flying looks any more real than Spiderman's.
Lurker 5 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003  Don't tell me that Superman's flying looks any more real than Spiderman's.Not only does Superman's flying look more real than Spider-Man's swinging, I think Superman's flying effects looked better than the flying shot I saw of Neo from The Matrix commercial.Neil
Morn 8 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Some of the Superman flying is really obviously fake...
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 You do not like CGI even outside SW.....Superman looked fake even in 1978, Sorry (and i'm not saying that Spiderman looked better )
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 You do not like CGI even outside SW.....Superman looked fake even in 1978, Sorry (and i'm not saying that Spiderman looked better )And you can't Luke,Morn, Spiderman looked like a CGI cartoon. There was too much speed and no depth.Superman may have looked like a man in front of a blue screen, but at least when you looked at Superman you knew it was Chris Reeve, you never believed Spiderman was Tobey. And not all the Superman flying effects look fake because many of them are not.Plus Superman was one of the most beautifully shot films, while Spiderman, Matrix, AOTC had just average cinematography.
Morn 8 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Morn, Spiderman looked like a CGI cartoon. There was too much speed and no depth. Nah, he looks far more real than a cartoon.
Lurker 5 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Nah, he looks far more real than a cartoon. He may look more real than a cartoon, but he couldn't pass for human, or even super human.I suggest viewing Superman - The Movie again. There are so many shots in that film with perfect flying and landings, that it really works. You believe it, because it's really Christopher Reeve doing all this stuff. And here's a shocker for you Luke, I don't hate CGI. I hate the over reliance on it. I hate how every movie now has shots of these huge armies. Is that supposed to impress me still? Am I supposed to be amazed still? What about a good solid story? CGI is a tool, nothing more. Many filmmakers seem to be abusing this tool, attempting to dazzle audiences with eye candy, tricking us into thinking a movie is good because it made us say wow 237 times.Neil
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 If we must have another comic book moviesomebody do the Fantastic Four with Dr. Doom and maybe the Silver Surfer. and if we must have another superhero moviesomeone please make the Six Million Dollar Man into a movie, call it the Six Billion Dollar Man, or the Bionic Man,But the Hulk has never been a big hit with me

Romão 2,473 Posted January 31, 2003 Author Posted January 31, 2003 How on Earth are you going to create a 15 feet tall green creature of enormous scope without using 100% CGI?
csiaspam 0 Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 How on Earth are you going to create a 15 feet tall green creature of enormous scope without using 100% CGI?Yeah, and who cares if it's not "perfect" looking... it might be a fun movie to watch anyway. Besides, I didn't find the comic book drawings that realistic either if you want to get picky with your winky in a twist.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 How on Earth are you going to create a 15 feet tall green creature of enormous scope without using 100% CGI?that has to be the weakest argument for cgi I have ever heard.wimpy, wimpy, wimpy.Guess all those years before digital animation(cartoon) we never had a fantasy film with creatures that never existed before.
Morn 8 Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 He may look more real than a cartoon, but he couldn't pass for human, or even super human. He passes for a human with a mask on, a real human with a mask on would look just as real.I suggest viewing Superman - The Movie again. There are so many shots in that film with perfect flying and landings, that it really works. You believe it, because it's really Christopher Reeve doing all this stuff. Yeah, yet there are also shots that look horribly fake. They really couldn't get superman to fly past the camera very well. And..... I don't see how it being an actor or CGI model makes any difference, both are playing the same fake game.Yeah, and who cares if it's not "perfect" looking... The old methods usually don't look any better than CGI does....Guess all those years before digital animation(cartoon) we never had a fantasy film with creatures that never existed before. Sure you did, but a creature of that size would either have bad blue screening or if stop motion it would move with jerky motions.
