I'm well aware that the anticipation and excitement for a new John Williams score -and the 'mayhem' it brings about on this board- is in its final stages as we speak. If Indiana Jones 5 is indeed his last score, we have roughly one year to enjoy the speculating and getting tiny bits of information and details along the way. I'm going to miss this as it's been part of my life for almost 30 years.

There is an abundance of comments to be found on Twitter on the score by now, ranging from 'extraordinary' to 'fine'. In general, people are positive about the music and the film.

I think the times have changed as well. In the 70's, it was very common that a soundtrack would include a 'Love Theme from...' If The Patriot or The Terminal would have been done in that period, I think Ann and Gabriel or Jazz Autographs would have been titled 'Love Theme'.

Love Theme from The River, Superman, Ann and Gabriel theme from The Patriot and I would include the main theme from Sabrina as well.

I don’t know for sure, but I would guess the same recording you suggested.

Maybe posted already, but Coldplay open some of the shows of their current -and very successful- Music Of The Spheres-tour with Flying from E.T.

A little late to the party, but I consider John Williams' Oboe Concerto one of his more tonal -and beautiful- concert works and it might serve as a nice starting point for anyone interested in exploring 'the other side' of the maestro.

True! I was collecting the soundtracks as a Star Wars fan and listening to the music as a stand-alone experience made me fall in love with the work and artistry of John Williams.

My first soundtrack was the Polydor release of Star Wars followed by Return of the Jedi. It was the Gerhardt re-recording of The Empire Strikes Back however that turned me into a fan. It is -until this day- one of my favorite albums.

In a couple of months, I'll be celebrating my '30th anniversary' of being a John Williams fan and collector. Growing up with films like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and E.T., I've been intrigued by Williams' music since childhood, but it was during the Spring of 1993 that I became a true and devoted fan. My life was very different 30 years ago. I was still living with my parents, attended the final year of high school, had hair on my head and I had no idea how my life was going to turn out. I look back on 30 years filled with significant events, ranging from wonderful to not so great. I became a teacher and headmaster, got married to a beautiful wife, bought a house, lost my stepfather and grandparents, traveled the world, became father to an autistic son and successfully overcame an episode of depression. The music of John Williams has been an integral part of my personal journey and has always had a positive effect on me. Today I had some photos taken of my entire collection, something I've been wanting to do for years. I hope you will enjoy them and here's to the next 30 years!
