Raiders of the Lost Ark[i/] boasts a great fight. Temple of Doom, not so much. The problem I have with the fight in TOD is that Pat Roach as at first invincible, and then suddenly he morphs into a wimp, once the kid starts stabbing the doll. At least in Raiders, you had a somewhat smooth progression from initial intimidation to Indy slowly fighting his way back. The growling (and the blood!) at the end of the Raiders fight is a great touch. Very intense. The best fight scene I've seen in recent years is the bath house scene from Eastern Promises. It's the anti-Boure. You see everything in naked detail -- big pun intended. I am not a huge fan of the new quick-cut, shaky-cam aesthetics of the last two Bourne movies. Ted

I did read the whole thread. Just because you started the thread does not give you dominion to control its content. Maybe you only wanted to discuss the film version, but maybe others are interested in other off-shoot topics. Ted

Damn kids! Why don't they react appropriately?! Ted

The OST version is much better than the film version. It's a shame that was cut from the movie and made the film version in AOTC. Ted

You could just press the plunger and blow this place up now. I mean seriously, nothing good can come from this thread - unless you pick yourself because you've been secretly harbouring the complete Indy trilogy for the last year. ...Or the someone who has the leaked score of KOTCS and hasn't brought this to our attention. Is the $185 mill. budget for Indy 4 justified?

And let's not forget, given its budget and, genre, and expectations, Catch Me If You Can was an amazing success at the box office. Ted -

James Newton Howard. King Kong. Ted -
It's Disney. I would expect nothing less. Score sounds nice though. Ted

I agree with Henry. This film seems to deal a lot of in temples and secret caves, much like Raiders. I would love to hear a freshly orchestrated version of both the discovery motif and the whip motif from Raiders, since it would seem fitting. Ted

Best Buy is by far the worst. -
I hope this is true. I'd love to hear what Williams would do with that theme today, even if it's just one quote. It's also nice to know that Marion's theme will be so prominent. I wonder what other motifs and sub-themes will be in this score. Ted

Amazon.com has posted soundclips of Harry Gregson-Williams' Prince Caspian score, due to be released on 5/13. Does this mean that the KOTS clips are coming soon? It sure seems that once the track titles surface again, so will some 30-second clips. Here's hoping. Ted

"You are the Pan." Ted -
I just re-read the French review of the OST, and noticed something. Here's the quote: "Based on an inverted and slightly retouched version of the Ark theme that makes an appearance in track 6 (the Crystal Skull: arpeggio, D natural, natural to the higher octave – the Ark: D sharp, D natural, natural to the lower octave), Call of the Crystal is probably the most subtle leitmotif of all the saga, and drowns the episode progressively in the ambiance of pure nightmare." Does this mean the Ark theme will be making an appearance on the album? I can't tell based on the wording. Ted

You say it has wrong elements? Well, Alex, you are wrong! How doya like them apples?

A.I. is a challenging movie. Therefore, its bound to have some haters. But why must we divide into groups of proponents and opponents? What's wrong with admiring interesting movies? Ted

Yes. It will be like that short story, The Lottery. We're one big happy community, until we perform our annual lottery and throw big f*ckin' rocks at the winner until s/he's dead. I'm in. Ted -

Substitute "and lacks motivation" with anything else. We'll call it the "this person is rich, and therefore..." argument instead. Happy? Ted! -

I listen to Minority Report a lot, since it's a great score. Private Ryan, on the other hand... Ted
