  1. Williams. I like Ozawa, but I think Williams is the Pele of Composing and Conducting. He does not have many CD's out without his music though. Also, a conductors ability is somewhat limited by the orchestra. He can not make a instrumentalist better. He can only change the style something is played, and that only to an extent. Billybobab
  2. Stink! I knew I should not read this tread till I saw it. It does not show in my area, Milwaukee, till this Friday (August 2). I just couldn't resist reading what others thought. O well, I still am looking forward to it. I am doing a commentary online with some of my friends while we watch it. Billybobab--I knew they were going to edit out good stuff!!! Bunch of ingrates!!! Don't know what they have in John Williams Music!!!
  3. Hw is it that 44% voted for the second to last choice? If that was you vote then get you butt of a JW fan page. Billybobab-Who thinks that that choice should be eliminated due to idiocity
  4. If triplets are used right, they can make a piece, but if used wrong they will totally screw up a piece. Billybobab
  5. What kind of question is this to ask on a John Williams fan message board??? There is a reason that we all come here. Billybobab
  6. I did not even know he was married. I makes me sad though that his don likes rap. I would shake my head too... Billybobab
  7. I may be wrong, but I have NEVER read of a Mrs. Williams. HOW COME? Here we could have a Williams Jr. to carry the work after Williams Sr. dies, but instead we are freakin out about his health. Now, there can never be a perfect replacement for the real Williams, but a Jr. sure could have been a help if he were interested in his fathers work. Billybobab--who spent nearly $60 this week on AOTC, ET 20th, and MR AOTC
  8. This is not really a favorite, but no one has probably even thought of "America, and the Dream Goes On." I have a recording of it. It's okay
  9. Back to the topic, Williams uses trombones frequently in his music, but not in high registers, and for solos. He prefers the mellow sound of the French horn for those. As far as really deep sounds, I am not sure. I never really listened for them. Billybobab
  10. I do not think that Williams has control of how many minutes he composes. They ASK him to compose a certain amount, then he does it plus some extra. Then they choose what they want to put in the movie. Maybe we should start a Harry Potter Petition. Billybobab
  11. I think it is illegal. What is the freakin diff. between copying a CD and giving it to a friend, and putting it on your computer for someone to download??? Or Copying a program and giving it to a friend, and putting it up for download??? Billybobab--Who has downloaded music before...
  12. No, But I hear that cat gut and horse hair are god for flossing. Billybobab
  13. A score does not have to be something composed for a movie. Have you ever heard of a condensed score? That is the music a band director lookes at as he directs. A score is sheet music with all the instruments parts in a row. A soundtrack is music from a movie, but I am not sure about it including "songs that are used in a movie but not written for it."
  14. I'm not saying he isn't "quite a good trumpeter", he is. Does any one know who Rolf Smedvig is? I found out he played with BPO I think in Summon the Heroes, and a few other Williams songs. Billybobab
  15. I have Zilch CD's from 2002 Billybobab-Who would buy a lot if he had a FREAKIN JOB!!! (I'm only in High School, but am looking for one)
  16. I don't think Williams will do much scoring next year. He tends to slow down for a year after a big year like this. He might do some though. Billybobab--Who would mot mind seeing 6 film scores every year, if they were all GOOD, and if they wouldn't kill him from too much work and stress.
  17. Just for the record, Morrison is good, but not THAT good. He was Principle Trumpet for the BPO, and BPO is not a extremely good orchestra. He also toured with Empire Brass. They are good, but he only Soloed he did not play 1st part. Solo parts can be 4th trumpet, and the 1st trumpet part is way harder Billybobab-who is not bashing Tim Morrison, I do like him.
  18. If anyone wants to see a picture of Morrison go to http://www.campavalon.com/morrisson.html -Billybobab-
  19. In the JFK Prologue there are only two trumpet solos. One at the beginning and one at the end. If you mean Born on the Fourth of July, a friend and I are working on that one also, but it will be a while. I might have that on in a week or two.
  20. I have 2001. E-mail me that file and I will try it. There is not enough difference between 2001 and 2002 or even 2003 to upgrade. Billybobab
  21. I don't know how to do URLs www.codamusic.com
  22. Has anyone heard of Finale, the music compostition program? Well, I have it (the full version, legally, not the free one). I decided to put the JFK trumpet Solo to sheet music so I could play it for fun. I finished it in about 30 min. If anyone wants it I will send it to them. E-mail me at me address in my profile. You will need Finale Notepad which you can get at http://www.codamusic.com Finale Notepad is what you want not the Finale 2003 Demo
  23. I as a Trumpet Player think that Born on the Fourth of July is the best. I have the music for it and I have played Summon the Heroes, and Born on the Fourth of July is better. It is a beautiful song in comparison to Summon the Heroes being more of a Fanefare, but I think it surpasses Summn the Heroes due to its musical quality. Billybobab--Ray will probably disagree
