  1. Williams has always ruled and will rule forever!
  2. Dark and laid back? Interesting combination John Williams rules!
  3. Damn you You know I can only concur with that LOTR statement. But I like still the Prequels. John Williams rules!
  4. This is one of those pointless arguments that go on and on and on and.......
  5. You are right about that Joe. Those arguments do not hold or are even remotely valid.
  6. That is true. But still he wrote many SW worthy moments in the Prequels and in ROTS in particular. ROTS has the most emotional musical moments in the entire prequel saga.
  7. No themes? What score have you been listening to? Williams always writes themes. It is his nature. Name one score of his that did not have themes? WOTW has very sparse thematic material but it is there. That's why Williams is my favorite composer. Hen ever lets me down. Lost World has only the main theme and one recurring motif (I call it Isla Sorna/Danger motif) that keeps the score together. Very subtle yet it is all over the score.
  8. None of the prequel scores reach that standard and I honestly can't blame Williams. TPM came closest though. If only he could have taken Anakin's Theme further. Who can you blame if not Williams? Well there's Lucas but he did just some damage. For me the Prequels have very much SW worthy stuff but in some areas they are lacking.
  9. Your post spoke about thousand words but the picture would have been enough LOL
  10. SW scores are not just your average scores. They are in the league of their own. That is a gift and a curse. The standard is high. And it is true not all the Prequels' music reach that standard.
  11. The Poseidon Adventure theme sounds very much like the beginning of the Alien theme from Independence Day.
  12. I have very little information what the movie will be like so I do not have any idea about the music either. I hope suspnece and drama like JFK and Nixon or like Minority report but with little more thematic heart. It will a sombre score in any case.
  13. Nope. I would not like Williams scoring another Poseidon Adventure.
  14. LOL LOL You are having a really bad day Joe aren't you? ROTS is a good score. Not brilliant but good.
  15. Are you going through a depression or something Joe? You sound angry and depressed.
  16. How sad you are losing faith in Williams and and in your opinion he writes only crap these days. But you have to the right to feel disappointed. My respect for Williams has grown over the years and I love his music now more than ever (yes even the new millenium output). I do not see any decline only change in his style and sensibilities of film scoring itself. And do not say I am blind Williams fan boy (which I may sound some times) who praises all his work. I admit not all his output has been utterly brilliant but to me his music is better than any other composer's working in Hollywood today. What is the thing you would have him write? Another Hook or SW perhaps? I think his mucial style has changed but his abilities as a composer have grown many fold over the years. I think directors should also challenge him to break into new areas and explore new musical possibilities. Too much of the musical choices are blamed on the composers who indeed have composed the music but directors also play it safe and ask predictable music and composers oblige and give it to them. POA is a good example of how Alfonso Cuaron gave Williams new direction for the music and he composed the best Potter score in the series. Cuaron did not keep to the old style but opted for new and Williams gave him an inspired score. That of course is in the ear of the listener but still a good example of director/composer relationship that worked well. So you have lost faith in Williams.Do not worry I have enough for both of us. Thanks for provoking me to say all that I had on my chest
  17. Well I was not aware the TC Journey to the Weathertop was not that different since I have not seen the film for a year. Thanks for the information. I can stop this fretting which I am too prone to do anyway
  18. Nice to see Clemmensen expanding his reviews but he could review the new releases now and then (more now than then). That Rosewood review was nice and not overtly biased in any way.
  19. For me the 60 minute running time of the CD is fine. It's better than fine. It's excellent! No problems there. End of story.
  20. You've got to be kidding. No I'm not kidding. Don't like my answer? Tough crap. It's not that I did not like your answer (as if there would be a right answer). I am just amazed.
  21. That's our story and we are sticking to it. Facades have to hold (it's the good old British "keeping up appearances" skill). Williams is the infallible god of film music and there is nothing anybody can do about it. And really why would Williams want to credit copyists? They just print the music for the players.
  22. Because you hated it so much? You could not stomach it? It took about 4 listenings for me to appreciate the Planet of the Apes. I know. I am tough guy to grasp the tough music in such a short time.
