  1. Thank you for digging up this lost treasure. And it's a wonderful piece, too, with the middle part reminding me of E.T.
  2. Don't you think that's a little sick? Music may run in the family. But starting a thread like this somehow implies that each Williams relative automatically inherits the Williams sound, because the music travels genetically - or you can catch it through airborne germs if you're not a blood relative. Thor, you've gone too far.
  3. Right on. Kudos to Gia! Who bravely stepped aside to make room for the still reigning king and creator JW. I bet it was no simple decision for Mr. Giacchino to step back. Rather a battle of the trees in his mind, a conflict of epic scope including the fulfillment of a childhood dream, his own ego, and a Jedi Master still alive. He acted wisely.
  4. Sigh of relief! (And don't get me wrong, I do like almost everything Giacchino does)
  5. THE DARK SIDE BECKONS ! I want this choral piece to return. It needs to be expanded. In my book, it's the essence of Star Wars.
  6. Please support my first viral campaign! We want John Williams to score Episode 7. https://www.facebook.com/pages/John-Williams-Duty-calls/141353396051414 Please leave a comment below the big picture (by courtesy of The ventriloquist), like the page, if you agree, and share it. Have a nice day! Donna

  8. So, as far as I can tell, Zimmer is giving Superman the "post-POTC", Sherlock Holmes treatment. Rooted in his Midwest character (or at least upbringing), it's going to be a post-post- modern riff on folk music elements with prominent drumming and steel guitars. And it will be light.
  9. When Michelle opened the last envelope, I totally expected her to say: And the Oscar goes to 'The Hurt Locker'!
  10. Unfortunately, the John Noble rumor was debunked as an unfounded rumor. It is rumored that somebody planted this rumor just for fun. As I said, I trust Collider.com, because they check their rumors.
  11. Just a rumor, but sounds believable: http://collider.com/star-wars-episode-7-villain/ You can trust this site.
  12. O dear. Such a drama. Blume, you are a copycat: Pulling an Augie. I had a good laugh, though. A good, wholesome belly laugh. But back to business: I'm happy that John Williams considers staying in shape for another Star Wars. All of a sudden, I have a good feeling, when I'm thinking about SW VII. If they hire the classic poster artist, Lawrence Kasdan and Fisher, Ford and Hamill, why should Williams be a no-go? See? Up until this point, I was sceptical. John Williams hadn't said NO - that was my only hope for the sequel. Now it's confirmed that he can actually imagine himself to do it! That - and the John Noble rumor - makes me excited for another one. It's going to be interesting. Very interesting. post script: John Noble really belongs into Star Wars. He fits the bill. If I saw him on the Death Star, he wouldn't stick out at all.
  13. Don't get me started on the DUNE films and tv shows. When it comes to DUNE - read the BOOKS.
  14. It's from the press release from a few hours ago. But don't you know that, each time George Lucas appears in media today, he is a full CGI hologram, programmed by Disney execs to say just nice things about everything? Anyway, we should keep an eye on Giacchino's twitter account these days, as he has a tendency to give away a few secrets once in a while. You must read between the lines, of course. https://twitter.com/m_giacchino
  15. And now it's confirmed! http://collider.com/...ms-star-wars-7/ George Lucas: “I’ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller. He’s an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn’t be in better hands.”
  16. Good to know, Quint. Enniskerry, County Wicklow. Closer than I thought, but the weather is rough outside.
  17. I would gladly join you, Quint, and come over with a sixpack and some Irish Stew. There's just the damn Atlantic Ocean between us which makes things complicated. Where do you live? Portland? Ontario? Cheers
  18. What are you guys going to do on New Year's Eve? Don't get me started on Prometheus, Quint. Somewhere between last winter and late spring, I changed my mind about prequels, sequels, franchises and reboots in general. Somewhere between The Thing prequel and Prometheus, the almost-prequel, I started to hate this whole string of films that got started with Phantom Menace. The overwhelming majority of these films is about talented people trying too hard to artificially prolong each single franchise's lifespan by adding artificial DNA elements or cloning the material. Give us some pure movies, with flesh and blood characters and stories taken out of the analog universe. Another troubled, deeply flawed reboot like Prometheus or the Thing and they lose me as an audience. Both films are monstrosities. Just like Crystal Skull. I can't take another one of these where you can talk weeks or even years about the problems and all the stuff that didn't work - instead of what you really, REALLY liked or even loved about them.
