Marketing stuff like this never actually bothers me but I know it really bothers some people. the tie in book covers for the Lord of the Rings annoys me more.

FWIW Rowling’s involvement in the films seems to have been limited to casting and the scripts/story. She was very hands off and let them get on with it. I don’t think she’d have particularly cared about the music one way or the other. The fact that JW’s music appears throughout the series and into FB etc. probably says more to her approving/not caring than anything else.

From what I’ve seen it’s the wide angle stuff that looks good. Squint and it looks like the PJ movies. But the closer you get to the details… yikes!

wheel of time is a lot cheaper. If it only does as good as wheel of time it will be a commercial disaster for them. with how much they’ve spent it has to be Game of Thrones level or better.

It looks terrible and the internet already hates it. That’s a tough one to come back from.

They seem to have so much confidence in this show. Has a show ever had a season 3 green lit before the first episode airs?

Yeah, there’s no way the series is successful for them to get as far as remaking Lord of the Rings. I’d be surprised if it gets to season 4 before they cancel it due to lack of interest.

I guess John Howe is the answer there? If the designs are based on stuff he did pre-movie they’d be fair game wouldn’t they?

The Eminem character looks stupid regardless of who it is or isnt

I think he writes a great theme but fails to properly develop or modify it but I always find the music to be at least serviceable.

I wonder if Djawadi will write a new main theme for this or if he will stick with GoT theme. I think there are several reasons for him to go with the latter but a new theme would be cool. I have a soft spot for his GoT music.

it has been reported that Amazon have no rights to any material from the PJ films. That’s why none of the armour or swords or designs (such as Narsil) match with the trilogy. The two tracks released have no Shore material despite being based on two characters with prominent and memorable thematic material already.

Galadriel sounds nice but forgettable. Sauron is generic and repetitive. Sounds like something you’d hear in the menus for Shadow of Mordor.

That movie is already way better. Shore would just be amazing. Fingers crossed.

So Shore is only doing the main theme? Christ this thing just gets worse and worse. No offence to McCreary. I’m sure he’ll do a good job but fuck it. This show has nothing going for it for a Tolkien or PJ fan. I am both and I am definitely out.
