  1. I nearly own every released John Williams score. Earthquake is one of the few that has been able to escape me. Every time I look around for it it's always around $70-$90. I even accidentally bought it on cassette on eBay. Considering I have the music and only a few tracks are good, I'm waiting for a reasonable price so I can add it to my collection.
  2. 1st Place: 2nd Place: Worst Place:
  3. It puzzles me how this topic has 50+ posts. No offense to anyone but this is down right stupid. Seriously, Steven Spielberg and Hot Women? Those are two things that should never be put together to form a discussion.
  4. I just don't feel right labeling it as a comic book score. It's not technically a comic book, but I just wanted it to be able to be chosen within this category. It's more along the lines with A History Of Violence.
  5. Hey GoodMusician, is your site up? I've been checking it every now and then and it's always down.
  6. Yeah I was wondering how this very public site wasn't shutdown. I'll keep quiet about it.
  7. I have, it's really really good, one of T.Newman's best. I just don't think it's the best for the Top 5 Comic Book Movie Scores.
  8. They can protect them after I download everything. I never knew these kinda sites existed, at least not to this magnitude. It's gonna take me awhile to download everything I've found.
  9. Actually you can, that's the only way I know to get music bought from iTunes. Burn the score to a CD-R and then re-import it into iTunes, my brother does it all the time to give me scores he buys from iTunes.
  10. I agree, especially since the opening to Spider-Man 3 is by Elfman anyway.
  11. Seems we're still getting more votes. May extend the time to 2 weeks instead. EDIT: I'm going to tally up all the votes for all my Top 5 posts. Get your votes in if you haven't yet! Will get them all done tomorrow night.
  12. It's been a week for Howard Shore. Here are the final results: 1. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King 2. The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring 3. The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers 4. The Departed 5. Panic Room
  13. For those of you who don't know I am starting a series where we, as a group, will determine the top 5 scores of a particular category. 15. Can you mention these unmentionables?
  16. I just found out that the score was released on iTunes, however I can't find it on Amazon, which leads me to believe it's an iTunes exclusive. Anyways, I saw the sneak peek of the film a couple weeks back, and I loved the score, which is a rarity with Marco Beltrami. It was similar to his score to Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada, which IMO is one of his best scores behind I, Robot.
  17. The score is very nice, it's along the lines of his comedic-drama scores, such as As Good As It Gets and Spanglish.
  18. The whole HD/Blu-Ray war won't be over for some time. Recently Microsoft paid Paramount $150 million to be HD-DVD exclusive, causing an uproar in the film business. Spielberg was outraged and thats why Close Encounters is Blu-ray/standard edition only. Hopefully more Spielberg will reach Blu-ray, but Universal hasn't been Blu-ray as of yet. Several planned DreamWorks and Paramount Blu-ray releases have been cancelled due to this incident. Michael Bay was pissed because Transformers is now only HD-DVD, so I think his future movies will only be Blu-ray. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is don't get your hopes up.
  19. Zimmer is the future, JW is the past You are absolutely correct. For those of you who hate Zimmer and his friends, you better get used to it because once John Williams passes, that's all there is going to be for the next decade. I don't think that would be so bad...but what about Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino, and Alan Silvestri? IMO, Elfman is getting worse by the score... As for Silvestri, he's basically a hit and miss. The only scores of his I enjoy are the ones he does with Robert Zemeckis... As for Michael Giacchino, he is by far one of my favorite composers of all time. However, he is still new to scores in film, rather than in video games or TV... Don't forget that most of the new composers tend to be more rock-like... So basically, the next 10 years is going to be 90% Zimmer-esque.
  20. I actually enjoy scores better without seeing the movie. Even though this is a rare occurrence, I do have some scores for which I have not seen the film. Requiem For A Dream, for example, I would probably not enjoy as much if I saw the film. The reason behind this is that, for me, the music is more adaptable. I listen to Requiem while I write, it's very inspiring and it's almost like I'm writing a novel that fits the music, rather than being stuck with the image of the film along with the music.
  21. Zimmer is the future, JW is the past You are absolutely correct. For those of you who hate Zimmer and his friends, you better get used to it because once John Williams passes, that's all there is going to be for the next decade.
  22. This is in no particular order: Where Dreams Are Born (A.I.) Dry Your Tears, Afrika (Amistad) End Credits (E.T.) Exsultate Justi (Empire Of The Sun) End Credits (Munich) Theme From Schindler's List (Schindler's List) Immolation (With Our Lives, We Give Life) (Schindler's List) Duel Of The Fates (The Phantom Menace) CheValiers De Sangreal (The Da Vinci Code) Now We Are Free (Gladiator) The Once And Future King (The Lion King) Once Upon A Time In The West (Once Upon A Time In The West) The Ecstasy Of Gold (The Good, The Bad And The Ugly) On Earth As It Is In Heaven (The Mission) Prologue (Lady In The Water) End Titles (Snow Falling On Cedars) Noah Visits (The Village) Wow...I just realized how much beautiful music there is.
