  1. Oh....my.....god........... The grandeur kills me. That opening tunes though...♥️, pure Powellian beauty
  2. ^^ well, way before those scores, JNH did it first! JNH ripping JNH
  3. i think JNH has found his "new formula", right when he created Maleficent. In my assumption, this new formula is very much suitable to his current age and condition, but at the same time also resulting the same vigor and beauty. I consider Maleficent, based on JNH's own statement, to be his second magnum opus ( His 3 Disney scores are the first magnum opus ( the old formula), and The Last Airbender is the transition) That also means, all of his future project will be based on the framework of Maleficent ( again based on my pure assumption) And, what i can gather from this new formula, the music sounds more "subtle" and especially for the main theme, the notes move like a double helix, fluctuate accordingly without a "spike" whatsoever. And overall, they sound more "cohesive" And boy, how i missed the old formula, JNH is his old Disney era when he included a lot of "spikes" to the notes. And this is to be expected, i mean for an artist. But I will always yearn the time when JNH will reopen and unleash that old formula. ( Nutcracker, unfortunately, is not that time)
  4. Leta's theme sounds like it's gonna be this decade's JNH's Lady In The Water Sounds Great! ( i love it when JNH crafts a "really simple" melody, and maximises it to a glorious effect ( > the three note danger motif of Signs, repeating two descending notes of Lady in The Water, I Am Legend theme, etc.)
  5. ^^ John Powell's music fits the scene nicely!
  6. ^^ Wow! that's score of the year material right there, just by that two samples I mean, wow! Fantastic Beast and Nutcracker, both with JNH on his fantasy mode, wow!
  7. Now, the orchestra mock up of that last week's tease: Wow, that brass arrangement! ( in some way, it reminds me of JNH's Dinousaur ) Come to think of it, perhaps this is the theme for "Hidden World"?
  8. ^^ Idk, aside from the track being not engaging enough, i think the score (as a whole) is heavily temped with Powell's U93 I mean, you can pratically see the blatant similarity, begin with the percussion ( and to lesser extent, the overall progression and orchestration). Compare it with this U93 track: ^^ now this, on the other hand, is pure Huwritz's organic-indie-quirky galore
  9. ^^ You beat me ! haha Wowww, a bit too early? The music sounds great and promising as usual, and judging by the lighthearted festive nature of it, a theme for Light Fury perhaps? ( that little variation of the Test Flight theme ) Well im glad the NDA this time is a bit more free-ing. Cant wait for more!
  10. ^^^ Wow, thats doownright plagiarism Yess, thats right. It'is very similar with the end of "The End" track of Powell's United 93, all the way to the final one note! Well, POwell music sounds way better though
  11. I tried to rip some of my favourite unreleased cues, its very hard, made worse by the fact that Solo's score is the worst of the SWbunch in term of its mixing. The result is still quite bad tbh, but it makes you eager for the FYC album Well here you go:
  12. Wow i just realized, this HTTYD 2's "Lost and Found" theme: is actually an elongated and swayed version of this Just Visiting's theme:
  13. Another imitation game from Tyler The love theme equals Bolt's theme
  14. With the release of American Dreams, i tried to hear Bergensen's previous efforts again And this track : (mind the audio volume) First, it is nice for Powell to have been able to create his own music style, but.. How could anyone other than Powell could well imitate and emulate his style easily, and with sophistication, such as that track..!?? ...............
  15. Piano roll: ^^^ Including mock up! Having heard this, i do really want the mock up version now!
  16. To all jacked-up John Williams and John Powell fan, Bergersen has just released his new album: I should bring this into the light of JWFan, as it is unsurprisingly, americana, and surprisingly, more restrained and calmer than Bergeresen's previous efforts. ( until the choir kicks in, that is) And surprisingly again, as not per his usual, the orchestra here does sound more natural ( and Bergersen, most of the time, always used real orchestra! crazy right?) First half sounds like over-condensed War Horse, and scattered throughout are bits directly quoting Williams's style ( and Powell's too) more than that, Bergersen perhaps is trying to imitate Gavin Greenaway's iconic Disneyworld music: ---------------------- Anyway, what do you all think?
  17. 1. The Adventures Of Han (3:47) John Williams 2. Meet Han (2:18) John Powell 3. Corellia Chase (3:32) John Powell, Batu Sener 4. Spaceport (4:05) John Powell 5. Flying With Chewie (3:28) John Powell 6. Train Heist (4:46) John Powell 7. Marauders Arrive (5:13) John Powell 8. Chicken In The Pot (2:07) John Powell 9. Is This Seat Taken? (2:34) John Powell 10. L3 & Millennium Falcon (3:15) John Powell 11. Lando's Closet (2:11) John Powell, Anthony B. Willis 12. Mine Mission (4:09) John Powell 13. Break Out (6:13) John Powell 14. The Good Guy (5:23) John Powell, Anthony B. Willis 15. Reminiscence Therapy (6:11) John Powell 16. Into The Maw (4:47) John Powell, Batu Sener 17. Savareen Stand-Off (4:24) John Powell 18. Good Thing You Were Listening (2:06) John Powell 19. Testing Allegiance (4:19) John Powell 20. Dice & Roll (1:54) John Powell, John Williams Full writing credit! http://www.hans-zimmer.com/index.php?rub=disco&id=1630 As the admin said,"I didn't credit here JW for every arrangements of his theme & old SW themes that can be heard throughout the score." ----- Anyway, im quite surprised that JP uitilized little to none his ghostwriters IN THE ALBUM cues ( i suppose the unreleased 40+ minutes of unreleased tracks, a music ,as Powell said "didnt even bother to write", is mostly his ghostwriters's). This shows how really excited (and idealist) Powell was to do this job. But Williams also credited as the main co-writer in the last cue is quite confusing though. And also quite surprised Lando's Closet is not purely SOLO Powell
  18. q: "from scale 1 - 10, how hard is it to play John Powell's music?" a: ( This is the only guy who successfully recorded the concert from Malaga, that i could find ) Amazing suite from Powell, as always If only Powell could do concert in Asian region
  19. Woww, now i got it I knew it Lando's closet tune, i knew i've heard that somewhere. And alas, it is from this famous song: And it's pretty similar, though.
  20. Has anyone seen that? There is a new segment of building a crate. At around 3:57, coming into the new segment, it somehow transitioned into the current Powell's writing style (from Powell's 90s-00s old style). Idk if it is just me, but it feels different. Then there is a longer suite for Lando's Closet. I dont quite like it. the higher pitch kinda ruins in, sadly
  21. Thank you so much for your time! Just what i was looking for, and i will get to learn more based on your answer. the obvious fact that you are the very expert at this is when you successfully justifed my nonsensical terms with logical explanations, that i could understand. Thank you again! ---- The happy feet 2 times faster part actualy reminds me of Arabian-Grand Bazaar music. As a matter of fact, hearing them again, all of the examples do sound kinda Arabic. Yeah, hahaha Well, i guess i have to settle with that being Powell's style, period.
  22. ^^ True af! I remembered when the tune was first played in the first trailer, againts those quotes, "musical masterpiece", goosebump. The someone in the crowd counter tune is also one of my most favourite tune of the score. It is simple, yet glorious!
  23. Well, i know nothing of music theory, but this hurts my head quite bad: Powell has a blatant tendency to write his themes with this one particular writing style: Recently in hubris (0:28 - 0-54) : and the of course Chewie's theme (especially during this highlighted part): and then there is a theme from HTTYd 2: i picked only three examples, but you guys hear the similarity in writing style? It's hard to find the appropriate term, but it sounds like the notes is "spiralling", hill-y, elongated, swaying...(?).. i give up. Can anybody here shine a light to this? the musical term and such?
  24. Finally a thread! This is one of my most aniticipated score of 2018 ( well, after Solo and this, is there anything left, honestly?) (EDIT: welp, my bad, there still two JNHs on the horizon.) His la la land tunes are splendid, and his Oscar win is one of the more deserving ones. Really cant wait to hear this out-of-his-comfort-zone score. Let us now revisit Planetarium now that this thread is opened:
