  1. Indeed, does anyone have some news about them ? Great Master Uni, are you there ?
  2. The Orchestre Colonne is a quite large orchestra. I guess there will be at least 75 musiciens in the orchestra (guessing from the works played and the usual amount of musicians in this orchestra who I like to see in concert . But unfortunately, I really don't have a clue as for the choir. Guessing a 40-50 people choir, I remember 3 years ago, they were approximatively that number. PBL (who's looking forward to attending to this concert, except for Glad-I-hate-her)
  3. He's very skillfulled in Haydn also I just fear that he won't have the "Fürtwangler sound" that Karajan kept for so long, and Abbado tried not to loose... or maybe that's the way the Berliner Philharmoniker should evolve. I'm very interessted in what he will program this year.
  4. well, forgot to login.... that was me up here
  5. That's exactely what I had in mind. I usually listen to music to confort me in rough times... actually, It worked like a kind of therapy. I used to be very susceptible (?) and had a lot of nervous breakdowns. Since the help of some friends of mine and mostly JW's music, I feel I'm going to climb mountains and take a flight over the moon lol You should send this to John.
  6. Darth human (well, that's obvious but whatever...) Darth &out (refering to... well, you know... ) Darth -between Darth visible (would like to see one of those in the next SW) Darth dustrial Darth nocent Darth terim ... I'm out.
  7. if you're really interessted in VGM, try this adress, it's an excellent site: http://altpop.com/stc/
  8. Shenmue is indeed quite good I particulary like Michael Land's work on "The Dig"... very intriguing and yet relaxing (he has implemented some Wagner elements on this score which makes it so great, very slow and strange modulations... it created an eary atmosphere that suits the game perfectly well) Also like Myst, Riven and Riven II (with real instruments this time)... also quite interessted in the work done on Biohazard Orchestra Album or Silent Hill game. PBL, FF6 hardcore fan
  9. I totally agree, though I prefer FFVI (FF3 in the USA) I particularly (how in the world do we write this word ? i never knew... *sigh*) love the orchestral recording that were made of videogame soundtracks...
  10. Well I have to say I personnaly know a lot of people in the classical business (instrumentists, conductors, teachers...) that love John Williams' writing. Here's an anecdote: In my first years of studying music analysis, my teacher (M. Plantard, a very VERY intelligent man, cultivated in ALL subjects) was teaching us about a prelude of Debussy "Bruyères". And in the middle of his explanation, he went to his piano and started to play: Bb__ F__ Eb D C... (which is a theme of this prelude) saying with sparkled eyes: "Doesn't that you remind of something ?" I knew then he was a Williams' fan. I ran into him one other day as I was going to one of my other class. He just grabbed me and said: "Wow, did you hear what John gave us in the last Star Wars?" (speaking of TPM) He could have said "Hello, how are you?" or "Hey, Philippe, what do you think of..." LOL. The next day, I bought him the orchestrated score on the internet and gave it to him 2 weeks after... He was amazed like a child... yipee When I meet him now (I'm no longer in his class, but we stay in contact), we always speak about JW. The funniest thing is when one day he presented me to his little children, he introduced me as "the conductor who conducts Star Wars' music)....
  11. OUPS... sorry, this was meant to be a post in "IN DEFENCE OF JOHN WILLIAMS" Topic.

  13. Well, I have to agree, since I've first listened to it in my bedroom before going to sleep (I swear its true!). The thing is I didn't know then what was the subject of the film and what the music sounded like... I was first surprised, then shocked, then terrified... (ps: I didn't dirty myself though )

  17. I've always wondered how many movies did John Williams score. I've already checked IMDB... but I'm so confused with TV show and the Special editions and the E.T. new released and so on... I really don't know the exact count (not including those special releases). thanks for the answer, it's for a research. :yellow: PBL
  18. Is that so ?? Well, our little conspiracy was finally achieved by all means... Now, the real subject is: Is his barber willing to auction Mr Goldsmith's ponytail ? I'm sure you would be interessted, Stefancos PBL
