  1. Thanks! Some issues make that slim. The declining CD market makes reissues like these harder to do. Keep in mind, when a label like Varese cuts out (Deletes from the catalog or makes something out of print if you will) it's based on sales. If something isn't selling enough every year to justify a reprint, it is axed and becomes digital only. If any of these get reissued it will be as vinyl (I know). Unlike an older 30 minute union film score where we can find more music and issue as a deluxe edition, the whole idea of having a long term inventory of CD releases is not feasable in today's marketplace. One never knows if they come back out. Star Wars SOTE made sense because they wanted to do vinyl so reissuing the CD was of great interest. So basically, time will tell if we do. With the RIAA saying 85% of all sales dollars to the music industry were to streaming and digital it goes to show that CD releases have to be special to appeal to the core fans who buy them.
  2. Bash away. Doesn't really matter what I say or what the reasons are. I respect your complaint and I respect others but seems i should just stop spending time responding. Thanks.
  3. It's a legal thing or else we would have credited him on the front. Sigh.
  4. I get it but I will just say I roll with however the creatives involved want to lay out the music. Personally, I am a fan of combining cues but that doesn't mean I am going to tell people closer to the music how they should lay it out from their perspective. To each their own I guess.
  5. Big Fix was overseen by Mike Matessino. Running Man had strong input from Harold and US Marshals was Bruce Botnick. Its also hard for me and Cary to combine some things as we do try and listen to what fans tell us. We do combine. You will see this on some releases coming soon. A lot of factors determine it. In the end I care most about sonics. I have been heavily pushing for the best sources which means good sound quality.
  6. Bruce, Peter had a lot of input here. So not arguing or anything but I would think if anybody knew what Elmer wanted it would be his own son. I do appreciate this conversation. Good posts.
  7. If the composer or key creative (in the situation where the composer has passed) wants to present the music that way, we aren't going to say no to that. It's their music. In situations where we are doing it without a composer or creative involved, I agree as it means we will lay it out as we want it. I got in this business 30+ years ago to help artists attain their vision and I've never been one to tell them that isn't going to work because it's their music/their vision. Again, agree on your point but honestly...after the hardcore audience, the score will sell to anybody who sees it on tv or streaming. The majority of people who buy these deluxe editions are the hardcores. Even then, it's a monumental effort to make many of them aware many of these releases are available (Notefornote released Pumpkinhead - it wasn't until we sold out that fans of that movie found the score via a popular website - you can market it with every ounce of effort via awareness campaigns online and most fans of the movie or music may not be aware of the release). Casual fans will buy or not based on the music they hear in the movie regardless of presentation.
  8. It's not that simple. If we combine the cues, we get grief from a whole different segment of the fanbase. We've always chosen to go with the layout the composer/engineer gives us. It's all a creative choice in the end. Some releases get combined, some don't. Hope that explains the methodology.
  9. We used the only approved poster art WB will approve. If you notice the covers people are not happy the most with are in the same boat. Here are two more clips from WWW: Washington: https://082620club.s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/08.mp3 Knife Guy: https://082620club.s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/35.mp3 Check them out.
  10. The issue may be that in order to put this out you have to do a deal with both Universal Pictures (shouldn't be a problem) and then do a manufacturing deal with Universal Music Group. These deals aren't cheap.
  11. I know where we can go to find Shawn's recording files. My only hope is they have the tapes. Bob Townson was not big on backing up anything. If it were up to me raw high res transfers would haveen be stored on everything. I pushed for it in many a meeting only to have him ignore it.
